I could tolerate the Cupra dash with a double din conversion, a trim kit and some time, but I felt it was a step backwards from the LCR as it was too unimaginative and mean really. Yes the LCR dash is dated, but it doesn't feel like its made out of the bargain basement finishes of the new dash. The Golf V dash is also a step back in quality from the MkIV, so its not an isolated case.

You can see from the new concept Ibiza dash that things needed to move on. Otherwise they would have mimicked as per the Leon / Altea / Toledo etc...

i have already inquired about these and there are not going to be any in RHD.

also, the price is in swiss francs if i remember, not euro's. makes it sub 20K at todays exchange rate.

pretty reasonable i'd say!

with the numbers being made so low, id imagine the would just be left hand drive... or supidly expenive right hand drive!

Rather than considering buying one, im interested in what they have changed on the car to get 285bhp and if there have been any changes to suspension.
If its more than just a simple remap there could be option of sources some of these parts...

i was told it was just a remap and cosmetic stuff.

a bit like a swiss version of the arnold clark black/white cupra.

My bet is S3 intercooler and different code. Would be interesting to know if the suspension or brakes are uprated though :)

The new TT-S uses 'our' engine and gets 272PS, and with this at 280 odd I suppose its variations on a theme again.

However I do have to ask why SEAT is making a car for a market like Switzerland when when the UK is one of its strongest markets and they are likely to generate more sales here. I didn't think the Swiss were big on polluting, higher CO2 vehicles.

At £20k its actually damn cheap. How the change in a currency sign can put a new perspective on something!!

Blimey ! I can't beleive they want more then £30K for a remapped CUPRA !
SEAT SURGEONS of York will do a lovely leather seat re-trim for £935 and £500 for a remap... well, I mean, you wouldn't , would you ? :-o

Also, is it just me, but I quite like the dash on the std cars, - what I hate is that despicable hard plastic door trim !

Even the Ibiza has better plastic trim than that !

it should read 38.5K swiss francs, or sub £20K.

its cheap for what you get, but only lhd.

std dash is heaps better with sat nav, and all plastic is hard!
agree it could do with some cushioning on the arm rest (on the door card).

I was just thinking that if you took a Cupra, added an LSD, full exhaust, uprated intercooler, uprated suspension, uprated intake, uprated fuel pump and remapped it you would have a reasonable 340bhp car, and it would cost approx £5,000 to do this. Add this to the £19.5k base price and you have a car that is sub S3 price (£24.5k) which is quick and could handle its power a bit better than standard car. Thing is though, all this aside, an Evo X with the same power would probably still be quicker from A to B.

Just to summarize how much has costed my Cupra until now:

remap: 700 E
full Milltek: 1650 E + 100 E fitment= 1750 E
Evoms V-flow: 450 E
APR FMIC: 1200 E + 100 E fitment=1300 E
--------------------------------------------------------
Total costs for mods = 4200 E

If you add the costs of an LSD (Quaife=approx. 1500 E) + good suspension (KW-variant 3 = approx. 1900 E) = approx. 4000 E (with fitment costs included).

Therefore, with about 8000 E you end up with a 340-350bhp hot hatch ready for use in the track and a cool every day driver's car ...[B)]:)

Interesting mate :).

My mates old man has a 911 and he says the same about it. He also has a MK3 Colour Concept MK3 Golf GTi with a TT engine and a big turbo with closer to 400bhp which he will state is faster than the Porker. His daily runner is a MK5 Golf GTi with Revo, full Milltek and uprated suspension.

He has a fuel pump ready to go on to the Golf and is after the S3 intercooler, but his big mod for this year is an LSD. This would not make up for the Evo's four wheel drive, but it makes one heck of a difference on the MK3. He will at that point have a Golf Version of the Copa for much much less money.

I agree I've had several really quick cars but the evo just had that point to point quickness. The trick 4wd set up really helped. I've got a Peloquin diff coming for my cupra but power wise i'll still not go any higher than the 350hp mark as it's pointles in FWD. I think improved suspension will help too as there seems to be a lot of axle tramp in the cupra - especially when mapped.

Half a second is a lot!
They are saying it's £31k+ too, wonder if they copied it from here?
