I can see what your saying Jason as I to was thinking they would have been really fast with the data from SEAT and Yvan as from new they where fast in WTCC

But maybe it was the track and maybe it will fly at Rockingham in a few weeks

In comparison though Giovarnardi was good yesterday, VXR as a whole are still not on the same sheet I feel.

I would say two of them are. Onslow-Cole was looking decent, he has a similar setup preference to Fab Gio, while Neal is still tweaking things, trying to find a setup he likes. Was nice to see TO-C overtake Neal in race 2 at Druids. :D

At the end of race 1, Neal tried his trademark tap and run move at Clearways on DT, he got inside the Leon, but then DT just blew him away with all that power!

Trouble is comparing WTCC setup to the BTCC is like comapring Apples and Oranges. The WTCC use different tyres for a start, and they use tyre heaters too. WTCC don't run the Indy circuit they run the longer, faster flowing GP circuit. Plus other setup considerations aside, the WTCC drivers have had half a seasons experience in the car and a raft of testing too.

I think the TDI will be a cracking car if the team can get the measure of it this season. But even if its a year of development, they can do it next year. Still another 27 rounds to go. [B)]

Yer my bad, TO-C was impressive and i too found myself smiling when he passed Neal, shame he got stuck in the wall though later in the day

Darren I felt had the measure of the TDI in race trim more than JP this weekend, and the tap he gave JP kind of put that across.

I think in Race 3 he could of had a good chance if Flash hadn't stuck him in the litter.

Darren Turner was flying in the second race, I think if Plato had let him through he'd of got a podium finish on 2nd.

according to the vagueness of the commentary yesterday, JP believes himself to be the team leader, and therefore DT should keep back (hence the little tap DT gave)

Only way DT will get a better place than JP is to out qual him & make no mistakes

I know what you mean but when SEAT used the TDI for there 1st race in WTCC it was going well till they went off and then the next metting they won

I just thought they would have had a good result but gose to show there is work to do
I still think Rockingham will tell us how the season will be

Well despite the mud it was a good day out and a great turnout from SCN to start things off. Good effort from the happy campers !!!!

Seeing the TDi's in the flesh (you can't hear them which Keith is not happy about ;)) they certainly held their own on the straights. Remember last year they'd have Vauxhall or Beemer overhauling them everytime on the straight stuff and that really wasn't happening yesterday;on the other hand not as nimble through the corners as we're used to but that will come with setup and driver experience.

Good starts and canny racecraft will be crucial in the long run but consistent points mean prizes not just wins, and only one DNF and two podiums is a solid start so I'm staying positive. Highlights are late on ITV 1 tonight so set your recorders.

As we all know DT got in a fast lap which is something Jase did not. So as much as the Leons actually failed to register a win yes I would say that although the Leons struggled to out run most of the cars their is enough pace there in DT's Leon and not just Jase's to get amongst the fast timers.

In fact DT's 49.491 was the third fastest time of the day. Only being beaten by Giovanardi's 49.416 in race 1 and the fastest of them all, Turks with a 49.202 also in race 1.

Going back to the pace of the Leons, can't anything be done to the Leons to counter the asspects of certain circuits that hinder the pace and/or performance? Or is it something the team just has to live with.

Just finally I have just learned that Robertshaw Racing is based very close to me. In fact, now I don't know if your prepared to belive me, because it seems members on another touring car forum seem to cast doubt on most things I explain about my personal life, but because of the lay of the land the house is built on (it steadily ascends) if I look out the window I can see the plant. How did the Lacettis do?
