Who would have thought that choosing coilovers would be so difficult.

I don't mind paying abit more to get FK or Eibach as I've heard good reports about them, the problem is choosing which to go for.

Choices are:
FK Highsport Coilovers - £394.44 (inc. VAT) / FK Highsport Silverline Coilovers - £455.21 (inc. VAT)
or
Eibach Pro Street S Coilovers - £576.20 (inc. VAT)

Both coilovers have 'Fixed rate 30% up-rated sports damping' so they should be directly comparable with only the finish, quality and price separating them.

The FK Highsport are attractive due to the price, but would it be worth getting the silverline as they are zinc coated to help prevent corrosion especially with all the salt that is spread on the roads these days.

Then there's the Eibach Pro Street S, they're stainless steel can anyone I've heard to has them loves them, saying the ride is firm but comfortable.

lol this may sound stupid but i personally would buy the cheapest ones by a good well know make, the thing is you don't wanna buy coilovers that will only last a year but also you don't wanna spend an extra few hundred quid just to make sure they wont corrode

Yeah good point.

It does however make the coilovers fr-tdi has got and put on his fr tempting as they appear to be made by FK. Even though they may be a more budget version of one of FK's models at £230 they are tempting.

@fr-tdi how are you finding your coilies? good handling and decent ride quality?

I dont think they are made by FK.

FK use Koni dampers.

These are made in one factory and branded as either Jamex, Gmax, TA Technix

i find my fks very good but a little bouncy on the front but im not ore if its down to the heavy derv engine in the front..... but apart from that love them!

Hmm... well its a Cupra TDI I have so i'd have the same issue most likely.

Usually it means the dampening isn't firm enough or the rebound is set wrong.
I guess that would be the benifit of fully adjustable coilovers.

yeah well itr all depends on the roads though on corners its just fight but on realy umpy back roads on the straights gets a bit bouncy, think this is due to the stiffness to though.

cant adjust ride only height

was looking at a set for fabia

apparantly v-maxx, jamex, gmax and ta technix are all out the same factory

KEEP THE THREADS GREASED OR THEYLL SEIZE!

Also sum1 with an octy had the springs on his rear snap.... both!

Not strictly true. Some Gmax and Jamex kits are manufactured by V-Maxx, but TA Technix are completely different.

Well the roads round me are all country roads so they are fun but bumpy so i'm not sure what to go for now.

Dose the Ibiza have a rear ride height/load brake bias adjuster? If so how are you adjusting it to prevent excess rear brake pressure?

my FK's hated twisty back roads. used to chuck me about all over the shop.

same with the TA ones i had on my passat.

i say go for KONI FSD's and Eibach springs, heard loads of ace reviews for them

I've been told the Eibach coilovers are alot better on the twisties.
Another option would be blisten's as a friend who used to drive a mk3 cupra had them and they were fantastic the car was felt really planted even on the bumpy roads.
