when I had my fr in the dealers a while back to have an armrest fitted, I mentioned the remap to one of the mechanics. He said that it would affect the warranty but he also said that unless they drive the car, they simply wouldn't know you'd had the remap done.

I got the distinct impression that he was trying to tell me to just go and get it done...

Think I'm a wuss though, it's keeping the warranty whilst I've got the car that's most important for me but I'd love the extra bit of ooomph the remap would provide.

25 bhp though isnt much for 300 notes. Think i will wait to see what Superchips and others are planning for the Spring with the DPF issue supposedly sorted

I didnt mind paying 300 quid for the extra 27bhp I gained, and to be honest if there is another re-map soon which is reasonably priced which gives me a bit more without the dpf problem then I will have it done again. As for the warranty - stuff the warranty, this car has only got about 9 months left anyway.
I have never been one of those who spend half there time wishing they had, you cant be a saint all the time. Your only here once.

If its the same dealers as I think it is - they know mine has been done - I told them, they were impressed with the torque, warranty wasnt mentioned - what does that tell you?

Too right!!!:D:D

Get remapping people!! Mine is a company car and i would be pissing 300 notes away when they come to get the car in 18 months.

But if it's your own GO FOR IT!!!

I suppose warranty won't come into it unless a fault develops which is attributable in some way to the remap.

Welcome Jase, and a great choice of car!

I would suggest saving your pennys to be honest, as most will tell you the FR TDi has been seen to produce over 180bph as standard anyway. Remaps at the minute are limited by the DPF, so for £500-ish you will only be getting 20-25bhp. I would save your cash until a successful remap has been done which doesnt cause issues with the DPF.

Hope you enjoy your new ride!

totally agreee with my neighbour 500 quid is aalot of money for the extra 25 bhp , dont thonk there's much difference in the tdi cupra 150 to the 170 bhp except for the economy

Right then - I am very interested in getting this done but have the following questions :-

1. Can you describe the gain - I know it is not just horsepower i.e the power delivery is better.
2. What does this remap do to the fuel economy ? Currently avg around 45 mpg. I do around 2.5k miles per month.
3. Can I expect to churn through front tyres ?
4. How soon are they going to overcome the DPF issue ? (I know how long is a piece of string...)
5. I know it may sound boring but what does this do to insurance premiums ?

Thanks

Steve

p.s. I know some of these q's are lame but I have to be practical - I know I know BORING but...

I will answer your questions in order:

1) Delivery is smoother, with strong deliver throughout the rev-range. There is no early tail off at all. We also remove the well known flat spot at lower revs.

2) Customers have reported back with improvements of 3 - 5mpg on average

3) Depends how you drive it. We map in a very smooth manner, including taking the Cupra 2.0TFSI to 310bhp with no problems.

4) Due to warranties, we are not looking into this yet

5) Depends who you are with, some insurers don't increase your premium at all. You need to ask them about this.

Cheers
Will
