rhd manifold for garret

Right. It looks like an TD05h 18G can't live with me either, but then I guess running any turbo flat out will take it's toll. It lasted 3 times as long as any of the IHI's though.

So I guess my only option is to ditch my rather cracked jabba manifold, and to find something that will take a big garret.

So the question is. What manifold will actually fit? Full race looks good, but has anyone fitted it.
The PD manifold is no longer produced.
ATP is a pos.
Does the pag parts one fit?
Will awesome sell me the APR rhd one?
Anyone looked at RS fabrications?


Questions, questions!

Any knowledgable input is appreciated.

what about the hpa stuff (is that vagtech?)

where do owens get theirs from (or are they built in house?)

well, i dont know if they do (owens) but they do advertise themselves as a 'arrett performance centre' with their own machine shop, so would seem odd if they couldnt offer one.

vagtech i think used the HPA kit on their mk4 golf (although it was r32)

tubular full race would be nice.
pagparts full kit would work nice also... gt3071 in their special HKS vband GT25 flange and external gated (if desired)
being mk4 john, no rear engine mount to worry about

I need to see pics of a pagparts mani with turbo and downpipe on from bellow to see if it will clear rack etc. Bill
My garage is full of bathroom for another week, so I can't start stripping it until then to find if it's turbo or not. The 18g is streetable, so i'd like to keep it, but if it's fecked, I may as well go huge, do springs/retainers and rev to 8-8500rpm.
It'd be nice to wait 6 months, but if it's screwed, it's screwed.

Backdraft mani may be an option. I like top mount as downpipe is easy, and less clearance issues. I'll have to talk to them when I've stripped it.

I have a full-race on order but its 4 weeks away still I think.
am curious as to how well it fits things so got one on order to nose around.

I believe Awesome will sell the manifold seperately.

Guy Harding incidently is at Awesome this week..he leaves to go back to Australia at the end of the week. He's over on development with APR on the new Stage 3 kits for the MK5 Golf.
They've fitted Mark's DSG equipped Golf and are finishing off another. Apparently they are very strong and I spoke with them yesterday APR have been tweaking maps and trying different fuel pumps.
As for the manifold the Australia item as per my car comes with an excellent warranty.

Give them a bell before he goes back to Australia.....maybe an option.

I need to strip it first before I commit to anything, as £50k down the road of the money pit, I am averse to throwing money at it, unless I have to.

If the mrs wasn't preggers again, it'd be gone, and the money I drop into it each year would easily pay the finance on a 997S and the finance to replace the 330d with a new one. Or maybe just a gt3.

Problem is is that the glof is a flexible practical car when it works, and I still grin when I drive it. Hopefully it'll be something silly, but I must admit that I like the look of guys manifold. Don't know what the biggest turbo it will take though?

Are we 'all' mad chucking money at car's like we 'all' do...I know that feelin.

Trouble is the more you move away from manufacturers spec the more reliability issues arise mostly around excess heat me thinks.

I've just finished rebuilding mine for insurance reasons if I'm to get on track with some peace of mind. Rods pistons valves all done but it's cheaper than a blown motor...over engineered I hope for my power levels.

I think we will all be switching to diesel soon if fuel prices keep going up up and up......luckily I've a second commuter car.

Wilko, I have a Full Race Manifold which is being fitted this week (with turbo + external gate etc). Mr Brockbank is doing the mapping the week after in fact.

I'll put some pictures up for you as mine is going on my MK4 Golf. Bit of a reference for you.
