Does anyone else think that living in London means you're usually paying through your nose for servicing costs?!?

Whenever I read a thread or a post about servicing, it all seems to be so much cheaper outside of London....... surely if the labour and parts are the same, shouldn't the cost be the same?
(Ok, so building rent is more expensive in London compared to other towns... but still......) [:@]

Here's another thing, I've signed up to a Fixed Cost Maintenance that covers tyres because the sales person 'sold' it to me (I do loads of mileage for work, which I was told would be perfect for the FCM) and I'm now wondering whether that was a good idea.... from what I hear it's probably cheaper to just pay for normal servicing!!

At the moment I'm forking out £600 a year on the FCM, whereas a 1st service is about £200+........

Does anyone else feel hard done by on the FCM scheme?

Surely that will balance out over your ownership of the 3 yrs fcm, especially when you start getting tyres replaced at over £100 a corner? Brakes? Brake fluid and a air con service Free mot at the end too.... Just make sure you get your moneys worth before the end, (especially air con and the mot)

I'm in London but went to AMD technik by Lakeside for my first service...£100. They did find a leaking turbo pipe that would have to be replaced under warranty, thats the only bad thing if warranty work is needed it has to be done at the stealers...Stupid stealers just reflashed the car to standard AND couldn't find the obvious/ visable leak!!! :censored:

When I was due for my 2nd service (20k miles), I called 3 places.

Dealer where I purchase the car £250 (inc VAT) - Westerhams
Dealers close to work £267 (inc VAT and collection/drop off at work) - Camberley
AMD Technik, was quoted £211 (no mention of VAT at the time) on the phone, when I paid it is was £284 (inc VAT).

Now I'll give my due to Shaun at AMD, as they have agreed to match the the price I was given on the phone (figure to include VAT).

Ive done my two services at AMD Technik. I think forum members get special pricing, check out the thread in the AMD technik forum on here before calling.

Warwickshire once.
I got quotes (on the Mk4 TDI) from SEAT dealers in Andover, North Baddesley (Southampton) and Newbury.

M1 Autos (Irfan) beat them all by a long enough margin to make travelling down to his from the South worth the effort.

in Edinburgh:
1st service
Seat: £175
Audi/vw expressfit centre: £150

2nd service
Seat: £190
Audi/vw expressfit centre: £190

I get my car serviced at the expressfit centre as it's more convenient for me. Service is top notch being an audi run team. Free courtesy car, seat charge £11 for courtesy car.

Only problem have to take car back to seat for warranty work. Touch wood none so far after 18k.

Yep London dealers do seem to get away with charging stupid prices, my first service was £251! I suppose that maintenance package you have depends on how many miles you do, if you get through two services a year and 4 tyres, it will work out nicely.
