Mines just done 300miles on £25 which pratically filled the tank and was above red light when I filled up. My mates are fair shocked when I tell them that £25 fills the tank and get so many miles out of it...its fab :D. Going on a 4hour jorney next month so I'm hoping for more ;)

My 1.0 8v Arosa would probably have done about 260-270 miles on £25 if i was lucky!

My Tdi Arosa would do about 320 - 340 i think.

I dont know where im going wrong with my TDi, i dont think im a very economical driver, i only average 55MPG. Although i was driving slightly slower on my last tank and i got 61MPG.

But a friend with a 1.4 16v Lupo can get about 48 MPG without trying too hard.

Think i need to change my driving style

Used to get about 30mpg out of my sport - quite thirsty for such a small car.

We have had our 1.4 TDi for just two weeks now, and we got 340 miles before the light came on, and it then took 6.1 gallons to fill up. That works out around 56mpg, which was mostly town driving, with a little bit of 80mph motorway.

Not sure how that tallies up... Seems quite good compared to our W8 Passat ;)

56MPG is average really, thats what i get anyway. It does increase a bit if i drive more eco minded but i never do

Although on a good steady long run, say 200 motorway miles, you should see 70MPG without too much trouble.

I'm currently only getting 48.49 MPG with my TDI but that is doing 90 MPH trips down the motorway... on 100% biodiesel too, so can't be bad!?

The worse ive ever had is 47 MPG with mine. And ive only had that once, never ever got below 50MPG other than that time.

I am finding its getting worse on fuel, im not sure if my MAF is on its way out. I have heard that it can develop a fault which makes it use more fuel but still drives the same.

Even when driving fast i dont seem to get much less than thr 56mpg average really.

When driving eco in normal driving conditions i can only get the MPG up by about 3mpg so i dont usually bother

Although very long rund and 65-70 is achievable. But not lately again iim only getting 56ish on a good run now

Interesting! Maybe i'm got a similar problem!? No matter what tho its the most eco car i've ever had!

Anybody got any ideas for my petrol consumption?

1.4 Auto averages 200 miles on a tank (about 28/30mpg).
It had (apparently) the lambda sensor replaced when I bought it due to poor starting from cold.
Checked the air filter - looks ok.
Not done the spark plugs, but it runs and accelerates perfectly.

just worked my mileage out to around 38mpg - short journeys, in a 1.0S with 133K and not serviced in living memory! I have cut my fuel bill in half running the arosa daily instead of a 1.9 205 gti - mind you, I've also doubled my travelling time :D

edit - having read the above post- mine was a non-runner when I bought it, wouldn't start from cold at all. This was due to the ecu temperature sender failing, one in the process of breaking down will cause the fuel system to supply extra fuel, as it believes the engine is cold, result will be high fuel consumption leading to difficulty on cold start and eventually not starting at all

Not serviced! Dont complain about MPG when youve not serviced it

You should average atleast 42MPG really, although depends how you drive it of course.

Give it a service, the poor little thing!

Not complaining - a service would cost almost as much as the car! It starts, oes as it should and stops.Fluids are where they should be The arosa is an economy driver- and it would take a while to get the costs back with an extra 5ish MPG:happy: It did have crappy new multi-electrode plugs in when I bought it and these made it run terrible, luckily the old ones were in the boot!- a slight misfire was solved with a cap and leads from the scrappy for a quid! Air filter's clean and the oil will get changed (car sat for a couple years so I guess I should have done this already:redface:

I'think I'll service the gas guzzling pugs first!
