It's not the old 1.8T it's all new even chain driven now... Audi use the 1.8TfSI in the A4 as well as the A5(expected to replace the 2.0FSI 150HP-shortly)! In addition to the Seat models I've listed above the AlteaXL also gets it. So do the Skoda OctaviaII & will the SuperbII when it's debut's shortly after Geneva!!!

OK, I stand corrected.

The MK6 Golfs rear suspension will continue to be based on the Multi-Link set-up designed for the PQ35 platformed cars. Just the PQ36 platform will incorporate a simpler version of this. Fewer parts to help cut down on the assembly time & thus make up some of the profit VAG competitors are making by still using Torsen-beam rear suspensions...

I was along those lines.

The R36 is/will be available depending on what VW distributors market your in! Skoda will only be getting this 3.2 engine in the Superb{=Passat} not in the Octavia{=Golf} at this time!

I didn't mention the Octavia and the market we're in is the UK, we aren't going to get an R36 Golf (watch VW prove me wrong).

Anyway, this is all symantics. As far as I'm aware, none of us on here is the Chief Chorizo at SEAT; until he puts his comment on the board, we'll still be guessing for a little while yet.

Seems that all Seat's on the PQ35 chassis get this engine to choose from with the Stylance or Sport-Up trim! Really is quite a nice little engine! Glad to have been of help.

I didn't mention the Octavia and the market we're in is the UK, we aren't going to get an R36 Golf (watch VW prove me wrong).

No sign of the rumored upgrades to the R32, despite Skoda getting the bigger power-plant for the Superb.

This forum as part of the SeatCupra.net site has it's origins from the UK. Yet let's not forget we've quite a few members from all over Europe as well as further afield. True you didn't mention the Octavia. It just seemed you we're implying that the "R32 Golf" needed "upgrades" based on the superb which is a Passat class vehicle sharing it's engine. My sources tell me the R32 is on the chopping block. Yet don't have a conformation if the R36 will be a MK6 only or a going away party for the MK5 as VAG always seem to do!!!

As I understand the next gen golf will carry on having multi link rear suspension but slightly simplififed. The reason why VW are rushing out the next gen golf is because the current one costs them so much to build and they feel that they do not make enough profit on each car sold.

Also the fabia I hear is pretty much using the same chassis as the current polo. The polo and ibiza are supposedly gonna get a rather updated chassis of the one they are using now and therefore the chassis that the ibiza and polo will use will be a generation "ahead" of the one in the fabia. I also heard that the next polo will continue using a torsion beam whilst the next ibiza will have multi link rear suspension, just like how the audi a1 will have. The torsion beam was considered for the audi a1 and ibiza but VAG bosses were concerned that it would not be able to compete with the mini dynamics wise and therefore choose to go with the more advanced option for the rear suspension. Now I know this 100% fact for the audi a1 but I can only assume it will be the same for the ibiza in the fact that my sources told me that audi got seat to help them develop the A1 chassis, and that the A1 and next ibiza chassis could very possibly be the same, or atleast so for the cupra version.

I reckon the next ibiza will have the updated audi 1.8TFSI engine so that it differentiates it from the leon. However I remembered that the last gen leon had a 1.8t just like the ibiza so this might not be the case. But it will be interesting to see what happens engine wise with the ibiza. I can only see it being between the 1.8TFSI and the 2.0TFSI due to the fact that the 1.4 is too expensive and deemed unrelaible in the 170hp version.

Even the 1.4 audi does not use the twin charger technology, instead it just uses a turbo.

The rumours are constantly there. We might see a R36 Golf but I reckon it will be a mk6. The 3.2 vr6 is capable of 300hp as audi have already told us, they just not have stuck that engine in any production cars.

We will see a 200hp 1.8TFSI in the near future. The 2.0T will be coming as standard between 220-250hp going by my sources, but these are audi sources at that.

What about the diesal versions. I've heard of a new 1.6TDi. The FR TDi would hav to be more than the current one so maby the 2.0 TDi PD 140.

Don't overlook the fact that Audi announced when they brought out the new 1.8TfSI. That this new family of engines EA888 would replace the EA113/EA827 families. Therefore the 2.0TfSI would seem an unlikely choice in the next Ibiza or for that matter any PQ25+ platform! Also the reason Audi did not use the TSI 1.4 engine but went for the TfSI 1.4 was simply application. The 85KW 1.6FSI it replaced in their lineup ceased production. So a 90-92KW version was much more appropriate than the 103-125KW the TSI would produce...

It is close indeed. So whats everyones perceptions of it so far? Like it? Think its a bit bland? Perfect?

Personally im kinda undecided on the side profile of the car with that line going down the side of it, and the front end looks a bit boring.

But then again I never liked the new audi TT or A5 at first either thinking they were boring but absolutely love em now.

TBH im not entirely convinced about the EKTA leak. Could very well be a photoshop to full everyone just like the supposed "leak" of the new VW scirrocco (i-roc?) brochure which turned out to be a very good fake.

I would have though if anything would be leaked EKTA would be one of the last things.

Yeah I was wondering why the model code had gone back to 6J (VAG standard practice is that model codes go UP a letter, so it should be a 6M), methinks the part numbers are just 1J (MK4 Golf) numbers with a 6 shoved over them. Also, they haven't started building MY09 chassis'd cars yet! At work we can't see cars on lookup screens til about 2 weeks before release.

I will look on my ETOS at work tomorrow to see if they're just Leon parts shown. (strangely enough, he has a page called "SEAT Leon 2" open as well! D'oh!

Looks OK to me. The Cupra models could look quite tasty. It's quite mini-leon, to my mind - in a similar way that the polo is to the golf (especially in GTi guise).
