I should have taken pics but once i started i wanted it finished. The finished result is so much better than expected, much tighter and solid gear change. Doing the TT conversion soon to make it that bit better.

I will take some pictures and show you how its done without jacking up the car.

Do a search on ebay for them, they fit the golf mk4 and skoda octavia so u may have to search them.

Its a bit of a crap guide as i had already fitted it when i realised i should have documented it. All i really need to do is tell u how to do it and u can work the rest out. Remove the plastic trunking that the ash tray and gear stick are surrounded by to allow more access.

Remove the clip numbered 1 and the plate numbered 2.

Now the clip is removed shaft 3 will slide to the left allowing with a bit of persuasion pivot 4 to pop out the hole.

You will have to do a lot of wiggling to get it right but in certain positions it starts to lift out the rubber sleeve (number 5), that allows the gear stick to pivot. You then need to give it some help with a flat head screw driver and pop it out fully.

Once it is out the hard work is done, u then have more access to the cable underneath. With a flat head u can push the retaining clip off then pry the ball jointed cable off. (Note, you only have to remove the cable on the right that is attached to the gear stick, the other one to the left is used on a fixed part that doesnt need removing).

Its all very fiddly but so much easier than removing the exhaust, heat shield and under tray.

Obviously when u have popped off the cable and the stick is out just reverse the sequence for the new one.

To save some time before its all fitted and u realise it wont go it reverse file a flat on the nylon stopper (number 6) and sit it flush with the flat on the metal retaining bracket that it bolts too.

All done

Ive had one of these sat in the cupboard for ages lol. Also had a B&M one but sold that. Having seen both kits i wouldnt fit one of the cheap ebay ones as the quality is sooooo diferent to the B&M one, only reason its still in the cupboard is cos i cant be arsed to put it on ebay. If anyone wants it give me a shout or look in the for sale section

Nope, had to buy a lift up reverse knob. I went the same route as a couple on here and got a richbrook slant top knob. Doesnt look out of place at all.
