Good Luck - I hate MOT time, and now mine is getting old I know we're getting to stage where things will be wearing out.....

Awww! I'm sure Viv will be fine :) Just do the basic checks to make sure nothing obvious wil fail, anything else just look on it as it would need to be done sometime, you just have to do it now

It almost failed last year because the emissions were high - like you say though if it needs fixing its better to have a reason to fix it :D

Well it passed MOT but, failed the emissions test, so they put some additive through it and asked me to drive it around for a few hours. I went back and the emissions were still high but, they said as long as I get my catalytic converter replaced I will be ok and let me keep the pass certificate. I have been using this garage for my MOT's for years and they know I will get it done. As for my speedo they never said a word but, I have noticed that the odometer isnt working and its not clocking mileage up - well it is when the speedo is working, which is intermittent. Its all very bizarre .................

Had rather an interesting day today :D After a grueling 16 hour shift at work I came home had a few hours sleep. Went to Halfords bought a new oil filter and some oil, called in sick at work and did my oil change while the weather was lovely. Got it all done by 3pm so drove over the hospital to visit my dad and parked next to a standard green arosa. Exactly the same as mine :D so I popped into the hospital shop and brought a tape measure. Then went back out to my car and its 48mm lower  wohoo !!!
Rather a crummy but fun day - yes the smallest things please the smallest minds

The one I measured was 190mm off the road, which was pretty flat. Mine was 142mm from the same point. Looked like a massive nobber in the hospital car park !!

I know, I know - you want to come down here and wind the coilies down a bit more for me? ;)

It'll get done once I'm finished with uni and I have the time to take a weekend to swear at the rings which have probably seized by now and will take some beating to get free

just measured mine with an empty fuel tank and without the interior in it ( was taking stuff to the dump ) so once theres petrol in it and the interiors back in that would drop it another couple of mm , but as it stands at the moment , 95mm from the sills to the floor so would say about 90mm with the interior and a 1/4 tank in it

 measuring somones car in a car park, nice idea

My 1.0S needs MOTing next month, so im going to get it booked in, im hoping it will pass.

Im going to take it to the local holiways ford dealer! They do MOTs for £20! but it also means they are a dealer and are really strickt!

My TDis rear washer has taken to gushing washer fluid into my boot lock and boot. So ive ordered a kit which ive been told will fix the problem. It better do for nearl £30!

I put a fuel system flush in my TDi the other day and gave it a really good run at highish revs on the motorway. Its much nippier again now so im pleased with that :D

And i got two new Toyo tyres for it the other day too, which arnt bad

I hate MOT time :( Always get worried he won't pass on something silly when the rest of him is so good - like his last lambda reading was 1.03 dead, the max limit is 1.03!

wont work . ive now delt with 3 arosas with this problem . its the wiper motor itself thats collapsed in on itself . when you take the boot cover off to see the wiper motor there are two tiny little holes on the black plastic mount where the hose goes into the wiper motor . thats where the water is pishing out of . theres no way to block it up and you need to replace the motor .

Just watch out cause all the cars i have fixed that problem on then 10seconds later developed the problem of the washer pipe splitting behind the door cards / interior trim in the back
