Dent removal

Hi

Just joined today!

I have an Ibiza FR TDI on a 56 plate. Around Halloween time I was driving through town when some little sods were throwing apples at each other. One hit my car and has dented it. Its on the passenger side underneath the window in line with the brake light.

Its about the size of a satsuma. Has anyone got any ideas how I can pull this out?

welcome here!
what you can do, is remove the door card with windows up, try and push it out gently from inside with something round thats slightly bigger than an apple.
There are a few thread on forum how to remove door cards....if you do a search

Apologies if this makes any difference but I have the 3dr version. So I cant move any windows up!

Ill do a search in the meantime and see what I can find.

if its in the quater pannel then remove the trim behind it and try, however I wouldnt bother as you will probably make it worse, if the paint hasnt been broken then try a dent magician to push it out properly (usualy £60 per pannel or simmilar). If the paint is broken then baisicly its a body shop jobby.

The paint is not dented. I might try and have a look this weekend. I am assuming with a long tool I might be able to push it out from the back. It looks as though it will just pop out.

No I have not even heard of this but as I am a computer engineer with a girlfriend I have all the ingredients I need.

Just tried it and Im sad to say it didnt work for me.

I tried it three times. I left the hairdrier on for around 5 minutes. Then applied my can of airduster plus which practically made the whole panel white!! But nothing popped.

The only thing is this dent is on the crease line that is naturally there as part of the shape of the car, so I am wondering if this would work if it were a) a bigger dent and b) not in the location it is. As it is the dent is only a bit bigger than the old style 50p piece.

Looks like Im going to look for a dent repair kit now!

Personally I think you're better off with the age of the car and everything getting a proper dent removal guy to do it. Know how annoying they are, someone at work has put one in my car this morning and is convinced she didn't, even though it wasn't there previously. It probably won't do any harm trying one of those things, but personally, I'd say just spend the extra money and get it done right.

How much do they cost? Thing is I am saving all my spare cash to get married later this year. I really dont have much in the way of free cash so any savings I can make I am having to right now.

The other thing is I bought the car Dec 06 and it has now done 41000 miles due to me having to use it for work purposes (I have a fuel card and a car allowance so I cant complain) so while it is my pride and joy effectivley it is going to pay for itself.

If I cant get it out with a cheapo method, I think I will just leave it until after I get married when I can afford to do something about it. The paints not damaged in anyway and its just annoying knowing its there but I can live with that.

Think there was a company at French Car Show last year, "Dent Master" or something similar, they did a really good, spotless job on one of my friend's cars, and it was £40 per panel. Most of them will do a job that you can barely tell it was ever there!

I wonder if there is a bunch of kids travelling around the country looking for Ibiza FR's to throw apples at! Its exactly what happened to mine and on the wing at the back. Creepy!

Ah well it was worth a go. Seen a van on the motorway yesterday called dent removal - they do most paint jobs alloy wheel refurb and are mobile too.

where i work we have a guy come round know here as bob the dent man who fixes them. if any of you are in the guildford aera i can pass on his number if it helps

I am having my front pads replaced tomorrow by my mate who works for Seat as head technician. I might ask him if its possible to get to the dent behind the back light assy.

At least if he does it and anything goes wrong its still covered under warranty!!
