has anyone had there 1.4tdi remapped through jabba sport? and if so what do they think of the service and what diffrence has it made, as ive been looking at stage 2 custom code through them but the gains seam to be minimal over revo stage one remap. However would i gain through having a custom code as i have got a cupra air intake on myn and goin to get a panel filter at the same time.

any help appreciated.

thanks

Things like pannel filters and exhausts will make minimum difference to your car so just stick to a companies generic map. You only need to start to get stage 2 or custom maps when you start fitting FMIC, hybrid turbos etc. Jabba`s diesel maps tend to be very smokey as they like to quote high torque figures which they get by maxing out the injectors too low down in the rev range which also tends to make for a spikey bhp/torque graph. Don`t look at the peak figures but try to look at the companies dyno graphs of the power and torque to find a nice smooth graph.

what or who would you recommend, if i was lookin for a sizeable increase in BHP, without going to far as im 19 and insurance is stupidly high and wallet is small. I was looking at spending about £600 mabe a little bit more for the time being.

Performance Torque and Bell Auto Services Ltd both have very good reputation on this site and can custom map your car to your needs for a very good price ( £300ish) and if you do start to modify your car they can then alter the map for you a lot cheaper then the big name companies. Then you have Revo and Custom code both very good generic maps, both where doing very good Xmas discounts which C.C has extended i don`t know if Revo has. If you live up north you have RS Tuning Ltd and AwesomeGTI which are very good and can do generic plus custom maps at a very good price. A lot of companies now do switchable maps that you can turn off so dealer/insurance companies etc will not know the car has been mapped if you need any work done on your car. The one weekness with tuning PD diesels is that they all have a weak clutches which can be upgraded but will cost money.

So youd still say to go with REVO (revo dealer half a mile away from my house).

No, he is saying take a look at all the companies mentioned, look at RR graphs for a smooth map rather than peak bhp.

I car can produce 140bhp at 3,800rpm and drop off to 90bhp by 4,250rpm

Whilst another could produce 135bhp at 3,800rpm but drop off to 105bhp by 4,250rpm....

TBH, for your 1.4 you might aswell just go to some he has mentioned, aka custom-code if they have discount (cheap!) or Bell, P. Torque and so on as they always seem to be cheaper, and I havnt seen any negative feedback for them, the odd bhp here and there, really isnt going to make much difference in the grand scheme of things....

I'm not sure if this is correct or not but I've read that REVO will put a map on and let you try it for an hour till it auto-expires....kinda like a 'try before you buy'

This might be worth it if its true, then you can see if a remap is what you want etc.

As others have said though the clutch might be a problem, there is no way of telling till the remap is done. My clutch lasted 1k after remap before it started slipping (car only done 18k).

Generally agree but getting rid of the backbox makes a nice difference. :)

The Custom-Code Phase 1 remap offers an increase to 105-110bhp and from 145lb/ft to 175-185lb/ft.

You will find that the Custom-Code software is one of the well known brands to offer a very smooth remap that holds bhp across the rev range :)

As mentioned we are holding the 30% discount so the RRP is £352.50 and with the 30% it brings it down to £246.75inc VAT

Not only that we can offer the mobile tuning service at no extra charge!

I hope this helps :)

Please do feel free to give me a call on 01246 455004.
