right then,

the order is in - TFSI in Luna Grey with 18" wheel option!

Has been a tough decision with the ol' DPF debate and I think I made the right choice!

Thanks all for advice etc on making my decision.

Just out of interest, what sort of mpg do you get on m'way at ~60-70 mph in TFSI?

cheers

I've had 40- 41mpg at that speed regularly, just leave the cruise on.

First of all! Great choice of car!

I cannot claim "ROBGTI" mpg but I haved owned my TFSI FR DSG for nearly 4 months now and, with nearly 5000 miles on the clock from new on "Super Unleaded" petrol, I am currently getting approximately 29mpg.

There is currently another thread running where I have promised to run my car on normal unleaded for 2 months (from Sunday 3 Feb 08) to see if it makes any difference

Just for your info I did several 200 miles round trips on the motorway at the speeds you are talking about and I tended to average about 32mpg :D

yeah, after all the hoo-har with DPF etc, only 30 miles a day and the fact I had diesel for last 3 cars, i've gone for the TFSI!!!

It's only for 6 months too so if its overly expensive to run can return to the black pump for the next one!!!

Was also looking at fuels - Vpower Shell and BP Ultimate, worth it or waste of cash?

Looking forward to revving over 4.5k!

I get the 40mpg when on a long run, my house is less than a mile from the M'Way and I have a 80 mile all M'Way drive to the office that I make once or twice a week, as the morning traffic only lets me do between 60 - 70 and the trip resets in the morning I can quite confidently tell you I can get the claimed MPG. Although through traffic jams, or an urgent need to get home quick then its as others here get 32 - 34 mpg. Just highlighting what is possible if you are patient and have ideal conditions. My lifetime MPG is about 30 mpg because when not plodding into work I like to enjoy the car....

I was the same as you. and was going for a diesel. in the end decided on petrol. now it may sound silly but I could not get my head around the "DPF". that was the only thing putting me off. I may never have add the dreaded light on. but I did not want to take that chance and besides I do not do a lot of miles

I have been thinking of what to go for out of the petrol or diesel and I think im going with petrol aswell. I only do 10k a year and dont feel the extra price of diesel is justified for the miles. Plus I do alot of town stop start driving and so the DPF worrys me a bit.

I bought my TFSI FR in March 2007 - l have been averaging 280-290 miles per tank of Super - However - l bought a turbo charged 200BHP car to go places faster than my previous golf diesels!!!! so 26mpg is the norm.

I have taken it easy on occassion and managed 420miles from a tank, the 35-36mpg figures quoted on this thread are easily achieveable.

Hope you enjoy as much as l have mate.
