i have put a scanner on the car and it braught up the following .....

Fault code (P0234) Engine boost condition - Limit exceeded

does anybody know what this could mean or the cause of it ???

brief descriptin of symptoms :- initially seemd like the turbo cuts out at 100mph in 4th gear. but now have realised it is inconsistant at what speed or revs it cuts out but allways has happend in 4th gear (this could just happen to be a coinsidance)
for full detail on what was happening click on the above link

many thanks Math

As as a guess I would say it is overboosting, faulty n75 perhaps?

Maybe someone who knows alot more than me can give a better answer. Wheres DPJ when you need him.... :)

If its not boost leak or that valve I would say its the variable vanes on the turbo sticking they need cleaning. Not an easy job but there is a kit available that will clean it out. My sisters golf pd 150 does it now and again.

Aye up fellas.... replaced the boost pressure sensor and wahey, cars running sweet again!!!..... BUT my joy was short lived, the boost pipe on the underside of the lump popped off so reckon it was the sensor and the pipe that was the problem... any ideas as to how i can keep this boost pipe from popping off?? Thought of a jubilee clip but thats a bit tacky.
