hi folks went to santa pod today for the first time. unfortunately it was very cold and very greasy up the track with a massive head wind!! i did a 15.5 as my fastest time but i was told as its greasy take around a second off that time for a sticky track! it was so greasy most cars including mine spun right through to third! the car goes well!!
if any one cares just though i would say lol

The cold would have been a + for better power. ;)

But a good time given the headwind. I've only ever had a 15 flat. I could never get a good start due to wheelspin and not enough practise doing 1/4 miles.

Nice time mate.. But not a chance would you knock a full second off for those conditions.. 2-3 1/10th's tops.. I've been against some awesome headwinds @ Pod. But they've only added a couple of tenths.. Plus your time lost on the grip, you'll make up for on intake temps and better bhp..

I so need to break into the 13s during this summer though. Have blagged some 240mm wide slicks, so I hope that cures getting off the line OK, and I'm also hoping they don't actually slow me down at the top end....

yeah i mean it was so slow off the light due to spin through first and second! the people that go all the time said take .7 to 1 second off for a warm day so just doing what they said lol! i need to get my reaction times down as there sitting at +.7
and i still pulled out a faster time than a 205 bhp tdi golf which is good his fastest was only 15.7

It'll come with practice mate.. On the reaction time situation, that doesn't affect your time mate. You can sit on the line for ten mins after the lights have changed, but the clock doesn't start until you start moving. Only time it's really a issue is if you're racing the person next to you..

hi all
seeing as i got 16.087, very soon i will be fitting my front mount, do you think this could improve my time to get into the 15's,

i was under the understanding that as soon as that light goes green the clock starts! cos why would they bother with the lights? they would just say go!

and to be honest i only going on what the regulars up there say! a nova running 11 secs said he normally runs 10s so there must be time to come off i going again anyway to get that time down! and i aint going to stop till i do it lol

Doesn't work like that mate.. The time starts as soon as the front of the car crosses the beam (on the line). So your time won't be affected no matter how long you stay on the line. But if you're racing the person in the next lane (as they do in Top fuel drag etc) ie first to cross the line wins..

oh i see if i had known that i would have taken more time to get ready lol i thought they rushed it a bit! like i would get on the line and straight away they changed lol
well thanks for letting me know i think knowing that ill drop some time cos i wont feel preasured into reacting

There's no doubt you will improve your time mate. But if you think you'll take a full second off, you're in for a big shock!!! A 180bhp Leon just isn't going to get a 14.5 run, unless it's severly stripped etc etc..

well one thing i dont understand is i was told a standard 225 leon will do it in 14.6 ish but the 210 leon that was there was doing it slower than me the fastest he did was 15.9 is this right?

and there was a tt quattro doing it in 14.7 and yesterday the 4wheel drive system was noticibly faster than front wheel drive
