My girlfriends were starting to get a little rusty just rubbed down with sandpaper then rust teated them and touched them up with some paint easy diy job.
Now my cordoba one arch was well gone bout and inch up the car so grinded them down and bout to order some subtle arch extensions to cover it and just seal them up so it don't get any worse.

I sanded mine back with a sand paper flapper wheel in an electric drill until they were back to bare metal. Rust killed them and then painted them with red oxide. Once the weather is better I'm going to send the car to the spray shop to finish the job.

Same here, mine are getting quite bad. And the join under one of the rear lights is, erm, quite unsightly!

From seeing your car before craig I'd say to remove as much of the filler in ur arch as possible, its probably holding water from all the crap weather we are having and making your problem worse!
I used so anti rust treatment stuff on mine in the summer where i could see some slight bubbling on the very inside lip. Seemed like good stuff, i'll have a look for it in the garage if anyone is interested?

what do you mean filler in the arch, ive had a look at the inside of the rear panels and there are no dents so where would the filler be??? Think im just guna take it to spray shop and get quotes, im looking to get both rear arches sorted, bonnet resprayed, some touch ups and bootlid rust sorted (size of a 2p coin) how much do people think this will come to (rough ball park figure??)

lol apology accepted dude, i pulled the rear cards off to sound deaden the panels and like said absolutely no dents so dont think it was the same car atleast it seems not to be!!!

Im guna get the bonnet resprayed and the rust on the arches and boot sorted as well as some stone chip touch ups and see if i feel like selling at the end of the year!!

Im guna get to as much shows as poss with it this year and see how i feel at the end of the year, its either sell it or keep and do engine conversion then it would be schweet!!

My Mk4 polo suffered from this and they were sanded, rust treated and resprayed. 6 months later it started to come back through. The best way is new metal which is costly. If you don't go for the new metal route then make sure you take it to someone who will guarantee the work.
