Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what engines benefit fronm having the EGR removed/disabled, does it just apply to the older 1.9 series pd engines, or can the 140/170 2 litre engines benefit too.
I am about to have my 140 remapped and am thinking about having the EGR disabled at the same time.
I have been told that if it is disabled the exhaust gas temperatures will rise.
Would this be a bad thing?

Cheers

Never heard that EGR temp would rise when the EGR system is switched off or removed and doesn`t make any sence either. Switching off the EGR stop exhaust gasses getting diverted back into your engine to get reburned again which since the exhaust gass has very little oxygen will lower engine performanc plus the exhaust gasses also carry a lot of sooty/oil crap in them it can start to clog up the inlet pipe reducing air flow and power. If your getting your car mapped switch it off mate or just do it with VAGCOM.

blocking EGR will not affect EGTs I reckon. What will lower EGTs though is to fit a high flow downpipe and exhaust system. Faster those gases get out the car, the better. :)
