GIAC remap review

I know it's not for the Cupra, but as there so close i thought i'd post it anyway , the lads done a great write up, and given us a alternative remap option in the north!

Funny, I picked up a GIAC leaflet at Autosport yesterday. It seems pretty good.
Apparently it doesn't increase the flash counter when you use it....

I also like the idea of the 'valet' low power mode, this might be usefull in the snow.

Ive not heard a bad word about GIAC , the no flash/switch is great , but Revo offer that too!

My only concern is the nearest dealer is the one in the thread, Sheffield, mind due the nearest Revo dealer i would use is in Congleton! APR flash the ECU don't they?

Regal are mapping a 170bhp 2.0 tdi in the next week or so, once its doen I will let you know how they got on. My FR will be done by them once we get the car in March

The software is great and little known over here, but that will change in 2008!

Yes and switching is available through the cruise, which they can also retro fit.

I phoned the place in Sheffield, they seem quite good. They claimed 311bhp and I think 60 or 80lbft torque gain.

Remap is £529 and the FlashSwitch is £92+VAT.

The price seems average plus maybe 10% off .

It's the same sort of gains as everybody else! it's the nice smooth map that i fancy!

Owen on here has the Giac map, he rates it!

I know you mk2 boys get hung up on flash counters - something I know nowt about.

You'd have to ring them or call in - SCN Rolling road day on the 26th, so there'll be a few of us there

GIAC have just released a 330bhp map for a STD car ( no other mod's needed ) not sure at this point if it's S3 only or Cupra and ED 30 as well.

it should be for all 3 I know Regal have done some ED30's and S3's not sure on the cupras (although I am pretty sure they will do) I can find out if you like?

Cheak with your GIAC dealer about the Cupra, ive only read of S3's getting the 330bhp map

I think 315bhp is just about as much as the cupra can handle. Anymore and it will spoil the car tbh and imo.

Anymore and it cannot get enough fuel from the fuel pump is what you mean

i have the GIAC on my cupra and i love it, not had a problem so far and it is by far the smoothest remap i have ever driven, which in turn lets it pull all the way up to the limiter

i wasnt offered a 330 map but i have had mine for a few months now. i will phone jim at the wk/end and see what he says
