I'm with Bell now - they charged me £1600 up front for my Ibiza which is now £977 with my year's no claims. They couldn't give me a price for the Leon until they issued my renewal cost - which was yesterday ;) It was in the region of £4000 previously so I will see what they say.

I have a quote with Performance Direct for £1800 which was my lowest so far, but will see what Bell say, then try Admiral, Direct Line and check out Privilege as recommended above!

Russman - Try Sky Insurance http://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/ ask to talk to Graham (sales manager) and say Alix from Colchester (who was after the FTO) recommended you call. He's a top bloke and can see if he can bend the rules for you as you're nearly 21 :)

I always do mate - only got 1 years no claims as she was the main driver for quite a while, last year was the 1st year as myself as the main driver. It's bloody ridiculous the prices these days !!

If I remember correctly, Sky don't charge extra for mods. They're the sponsor on the FTO Owners Club. If you also mention to Graham you're a member here that may get you a little bit more discount with some of the brokers.

I've also found with online insurers that if you get a quote for a car, say to start in 2 months time, they take your age as of the day you submit the form - not your age on the commencement of the policy (which is plain stupid).

Bell quoted me £2045 with £100 discount with commuting! Even though I don't commute, so I may call back for another quote - but I have been offered £1800 elsewhere. Mr Az - I look forward to next year then! There's around 42 factors which affects insurance though - even though my car is kept in the garage overnight I'll still be paying out my ass I reckon..Colchester's not that bad is it?! :D

Good point. Forgot about the other things that change the price.

Basically, mine is: 21 years old. No NCB. No convictions, 15,000 miles per year, SDP & C. Parked on drive. Bad postcode. 3 extra drivers and the result: £1600 fully comp this year with Bell on an 55 plate FR TDi.
