Central Locking Key

ive done a search and only found how to take the key apart but on my flip key when the key is closed you press the button to flip the key out then to close it you jusy push the key down. on my dads vauxhall and my mates VWs and BMWs you have to push the button to close it. is the spring nakered i havent taken the key apart yet. is this normal on the seat key.

You should have to push the button to close it. Pop the key open and have a look at the spring. It's failry simple inside, you may have snapped a lug off the insides. You sometimes can buy just the top part of the key off ebay with or without a blank key.

Could be a different model of key - the Mercedes keys - which are identical btw - don't lock open - makes for compulsive opening and closing of the key mind!!

the key is the one with just open n close on it not the boot one.
if i open it will it disconnect the battery and have to reprogram the key.

The battery is located in the bottom section and your not looking at this part. No need to open it. However to access the spring you will need to remove the Seat badge on the back of the key and then will usually need a replacement badge. It's up to you whether you can live with it or not or buy a new badge :).

not too fused just wondered if anyone else did. might just buy a new key as its lookin a bit worse for wear.
