the Good
-great chassis gives an excellent drive
-2.0 tdi has plenty of go
-good seats and great spec on my stylance
-plenty of room for 4
-big boot
-3 12v power points in total
-no problems so far after 30k
the Bad
-noisy diesel engine
-road noise from tyres, much improved since the original bridgestones replaced by michelin
-centre leather armrest upgrade option is a must (90 quid) and drivers door armrest is rock hard
-boot lip very high/floor very low for loading heavy items
-rear seats do not fold flat
the frustrating
-no clock on radio
-no stowage/luggage hooks in boot (bought for 14 quid from dealer)
Would I have another? Errm probably not. I think overall my Skoda Octavia II was a better car (except the seats) and for a direct comparison I think my mates S-Max is a better car.

Pretty much agree with the above except:
Rear seats do fold flat on MY08 cars as the raised boot floor is now standard, as are the tie down loops.
There's a clock on the dash, why would you need one on the radio?
The sports seats are far better than the standard seats and well worth paying extra for IMHO.
Can't tell you anything about the petrol engine though, Sorry.

You cant put anything really heavy on the raised floor? - I think my tool box would destroy it - any idea what the load limit is?
I have my dash display set to one of the distance/mpg setting normally - just a pain to have to cycle through all the settings just to see what time it is. (Again - goes back to the Skoda which had a clock and outside temp on the radio display as well as the drivers info display)

If you have a MY08 could you take a photo of the floor with the false floor up? The local dealers demo doesn't have it and didn't mention it!

Just had a look on the Seat site and there seems to be an awful lot of options available now when you 'spec my Seat', that were not there when I ordered mine.

I've read somewhere that the raised boot floor will support an evenly distributed 50kg but it can be folded out of the way in a matter of seconds.

When I ordered my MY08 Bluetooth wasn't available due to the TomTom wiring coming as standard (You can't have both apparently) so I have had a Parrot bluetooth kit fitted.

Which begs the question - why bother? The whole point of a flat floor is that it's easier to load heavy stuff!

I like the boot floor 'cos I can keep the stuff that I need to have with me for work under the floor but still have an "empty" boot for other stuff.
I ordered mine around the time of the MY07/MY08 change over and Bluetooth wasn't listed as an option as it is now. That was annoying as I would have had the Bluetooth.

Very interesting - especially as my plastic pot and vis jacket are currently just rolling around in the boot unlike yours Craig!
That raised floor looks the business but 50kg max is just no where near enough.
A very big thank you for posting the pics - the one in the showroom the other week at the dealers did not have this fitted?
At the end of the day it's all my fault - I chose a car without a flat load area/high boot lip so I shall have to live with it for another 2 years.

When I got mine the car I test drove and the ones in the showroom were all MY07. If you really want the raised floor you can buy all the bits from the dealer, not sure how much it is though.
I got a MY08 because I wanted the sports pack and there were none in the country so it was a factory order (and a 10 week wait)

Seem to remember from previous posts that raised floor on origanal Altea is pricey ordered as spares afterwards.
My rasied floor took a the weight of half a bathroom's worth of tiles fine. Not sure how much that is but it squashed the rear end right down.
I wouldn't be without the raised floor. Ranks with the wipers as in the reasons I'm glad I got an Altea.

It looks awfully similar to the Toledo false floor - in which case, I have all the bits in my shed to fit one if anyone's interested.
I'll have a look later. It's raining now
Mine came as standard so I don't know if it will have any stickers.

Seriously though - the floor looks a bit susceptible to heavy loads - I was thinking of making up a snooker ball arranger-type frame to support in the postion needed - sounds less expensive than a second lateral support from SEAT

that'll save me getting everything out of the shed to check them - I'm pretty sure they're still in there...except the divider - that's gone.
The false floor is 5P5 858 855 E 1UA
that's for a black/charcoal one anyway
