Bluetooth - Nokia 6500

Hi everyone

I was just wondering if anyone had the fairly new Nokia 6500 (it is available in two varities, a classic and a 'slide' model), and if so has it been tried out with the Leon bluetooth?

I currently have a Nokia 6111 which works perfectly but am looking to change it for a new phone in the coming weeks and have the 6500 on my shortlist. Clearly I want to make sure that it would be compatible before I buy one.

I wrote to Seat customer services as the phone is not listed on their compatibility list, and received a response to say that I would have to buy the phone then take it to a dealer for them to test it for me.

Errrr:

1. By then, might it be.... too late?

2. If I got one, I could try it myself, why bother take it to a dealer?

Woefully inept "customer service" so I thought I would ask the people who really know, and who really are interested in helping.... the fellow customers!!

Cheers

The jist of the Bluetooth compatibility thread at the top of this forum is that nokias based on the series 40 OS tend to work OK including downloading the phonebook. The nokias using the symbian OS i.e. series 60s, Ns and Es, will connect and take calls OK but don't have the remote sim access protocol that the car kit needs to download contacts.

I have managed to establish that the 6500, in classic or slide variant, is NOT a Symbian phone and therefore should work fine on all accounts.

dogmark's 6300 works fine, which is I think the forerunner of the 6500, which is all good news.

I will probably get a 6500 in December so will be able to add my findings to the main Bluetooth thread when I can test it out.

Near Reevo :)
This works fine....

Only thing it doesn't do is play the ringtone through the speakers when the phone rings, all it does is do the default "ring ring" "ring ring" noise .... not a big problem really is it :D

Hi everyone,

I'm just about to buy the Nokia 6500 slide. Has anyone tested the 6500 slide?

I read in the Bluetooh list that the Nokia 6500 classic does connect properly and does download phonebook.

What about outgoing, incoming and missed calls list?? (People with 6500 classic are as well welcome to make a statement)

I currently have a Nokia 6233 which works very well (BT connection OK, phonebook download OK) but it doesn't display the lists for incoming/outgoing calls. It only displayes the "missed calls" list...

Thanx

Hi Costantino

You will see that I have posted some comments along the way about the 6500 Slide in the Leon.

Basically the good news is that it works fine with all the features of the Seat BT system. When entering the menu, you get:

1. Phone Book
2. Last Calls Dialled
3. Accepted Calls
4. Missed Calls

There are only two real problems from my point of view:

1. There is only one number entry per Contact Name in the BT phone book
2. I had (and still have) problems with "blank" entries at the start of the phone book list

You can avoid problem 2 above by not making the mistake I did and trying out the "Delete Phone Book" function.

The "blank" entries are basically second and third numbers of some of my contacts (at complete random) and there does not appear to be a way of getting round the problem.

But I suspect it's a Seat BT problem not the Nokia 6500 Slide.

On mine the entries that were listed as '---' were the voice dial numbers.

Ok sounds generally good.

@markfranklin, rampage

what MY are your Leons? And do you happen to know what software version your Seat BT has.? (theoretically it should be 0060...)

Thanx a lot for the info!

Do you know how to tell what BT software version I have?

Leon is BG07xxx registered July 07

Well, you need VagCom to tell yourself or if your dealer was kind enough he might have given you a printout with all your installed modules (this is done with the dealer's diagnostic device VAS5051 or 5052)

Ehhhhmmmm. what is BG07xxx? Is it model year 2007?
