Autosport have reported:

Diesel engines in the World Touring Car Championship will have their performance controlled through the imposition of limits for fuel pressure, boost pressure, and air/fuel mix ratio this season.

The move is intended to ensure that diesel and petrol engines can compete on a level playing field, but the precise limits for each engine's performance have yet to be finalised.

No word on how this might effect the BTCC. It appears at this stage to be somewhat self governed inside the WTCC. So i would only presume BTCC will continue to follow the current S2000D rule book and see how things pan out.

SEAT UK have run without a flat floor anyway, as this was not allowed in the British series. The fact the World team will now have to run a similar setup this can only benefit the UK team with similar data.

They have made some alterations, determined by the fact the Leon has now lost its flat floor. But that makes no odd's to the UK team, they never could use a flat floor anyway.

I'm not sure Alan Gow would mess about making alterations like they are in the WTCC, he'd probably only react if the cars start to wipe the floor with the other cars in the championship.

The most important variable to consider for the UK team are the Dunlop tyres and how they will react to the heavier diesel engine. Wear rate being something they will be focusing on no doubt.

We shall see.

Vauxhall have done that to their rivals certainly for as long as I have been around the BTCC (2001). So I don't see Alan starting anytime soon.

Certainy since I have been around the oly trophies Vauxhall HAVEN'T won, to my knowledge, is the 2005 & 2006 Drivers trophy, the 2006 Manufacturers trophy and the 2007 Teams trophy.

Is that isn't a team that isn't wiping the floor with other cars I don't know what is.

For at least 5 years though Vauxhall have been practically the only manufacturer in it, they resorted to racing themselves in the early 00s. The last couple of years they have had a fight on their hands, i wouldn't say they wiped the floor with us last season. One of the closest title battles in recent history.

If the rulemakers have any sense, they should. Otherwise it's just going to die like Super Touring did.

Or even give the teams wishing to run the TDi a budget that they must work within?

I would be worried though most, about that idea, just how much money the Touring Car Bureau have in the first place.
