Leon FR Sound System

Hi everyone,

Will be getting my new Lean FR TDI soon, and was wondering if anyone could tell me if the sound system is any good.

Im swaping my old car (a 2.3T Mazda 3 MPS 260ps) which had a BOSE sound system, and am hoping for something good from SEAT to replace that.

Oh and by the way, the reason Ive changed my 07 reg MPS already is because it was costing my more in fuel than it was to pay for the car.... 23mpg average.

The sound system in the SEAT is reasonable I suppose but nothing outstanding really. I've had better quality standard fit systems in the past.

I find it very quirky and prone to show disk and system errors quite a bit and on a couple of occasions the system has got confused and taken 5 mins to eject a CD.

Quite a few people on here have upgraded the speakers themselves which is probably worth looking at doing.

By comparison to your old system - the SEAT FR (as I have) is rubbish. The Head Unit is not the best (5/10) as stated it does suffer from CD errors (this has stopped on mine after 1 month) mainly due to minor scratches/imperfections on the disc. The speakers are really poor (3/10). So improving the speakers is probably the cheapest and most effective option. Replacing the system is obviously the only way to go if you want to belter....

Regards - Steve

Hi mt, i swapped my Mazda 6 2.3 Sport with the Bose for an FR just before Christmas and unfortunately you will be seriously unimpressed with the sound system in the FR.
I have just had 4 new speakers fitted and was expecting to have the expense of fitting an amp + sub, but to be honest the results are pretty good and im more than happy with it. If you want some details PM me, but basically just look to have to pay out for 4 speakers as much as you can afford and them fit them (or pay someone like i did)
Know where you are coming from with the MPS, i used to get around 25-28mpg from my 2.3 Sport, fantastic car and sorely missed but im loving getting 38-45 from my FR :p

Hi, was it the 4 main drivers you had replaced or the 2 tweeters and drivers in the front? What speaker did you fit? Does the grille come off the speaker, or do you have to remove the door card? Thanks

I think there are a few threads on here about how to do it, so worth searching.

As far as I know quite a few people go for Infinity speakers so worth doing a search on that.
