Any recommendations for connecting an iPod to the stereo? A few recommendations for XCarLink - is it the best anyone has found? Where would you recommend bringing the cable out?? Love driving cars but bit new to the tinkering thing, oh and being a blonde female please respond in plain English ;) Thanks!!

I don't think the MY06 Leons all had this (at least not as standard). I know my Dad's 06 plate 1.6 Reference doesn't. I guess you'd be wanting to actually connect the iPod properly to the head unit though, so it was controllable via the steering wheel buttons....

I have an 06 Leon and I have had the 'official' Seat IPOD lead added to my radio. The IPOD end of this cable is in my glovebox. This cable charges the IPOD and allow you to skip tracks and change playlists from the radio/steering wheel controls but it does not display the track names on the head unit (bit of a shame but you get used to it).

I've just fitted a Dension Ice>Link Gateway 100.
This controls the iPod through the CD changer function & allows you to control it by the stereo or steering wheel controls.

Where can you get that? How much & is it simple to fit? Thanks :D

Not just a lead in a glove box though. ;)

You get a dock cradle or clips to secure the iPod. You can also control the iPod via the HU controls & steering wheel controls. Not sure if you can do this via the Aux socket.

Shame there isn't a 'proper' solution available that gives you full control and actually uses the radio display to give track/playlist names. Most of the connection kits for aftermarket head units (such as the Kenwood one I have in my Mk1 Leon) give all that. It'll be a shame to lose it when my Mk2 FR arrives...

Seems a litle more reasonable but it not any improvement over the factory standard, personally I would go for the factory option if you are not impatient like me & have to buy a car you can pick up next day off the shop floor, I cant wait weeks or even months for a factory specific car, for me its the way it feels & drives, the rest is a bonus :p

I've got the xcarlink ipod cable

Just thought i'd follow up now that i've got the xcarlink (www.xcarlink.co.uk) ipod cable in my car... so far so good, the boyf found it very easy to fit, much easier than expected so thats a bonus. Sound quality is fab, only issue in my mind at this time is that it doesn't show the track (or even the correct track number) on the stereo display, not too much of an issue though as i have my ipod in the cup holder by the gearstick and the display always lights up on a song change so is easily visible. Other than that i'm happy!! :D
