Ok small problems with Cordoba

Hi all..

Right I got the car and its lovely.

Couple of small questions that I hope you can help me with.

Wired in my Alpine stereo today... so happy as that was easy enough and I am planning on getting a sub and amp for the back plus a new set of rear parcel shelf speakers so....

Anyone got any ideas on what good speakers are available that will fit in the existing holes without cutting up the shelf which I dont want to do.

More serious problem...

When the car is started there seems to be a rattling noise coming from the left hand side of the engine I suspect its either cam belt or tensioners or the water pump... does this sound right??

I know that I am gonna have to spend a few quid on this car but its one of those cars which every penny you spend on it....

But first impressions of the car is that its a great drive and fun as hell

i think the rear speaker are 6x4's jbl,kenwood do a set. but i've put 6x9's in mine. i took the rear panel out and cut the metal out and set the speakers in and put the self back you cant see any difference. but does sound good.
as for the rattle no idea could be noisey tapets on start up

as is happens I have a nice set of JBL 953s they are 6 x9s... how did you take the panel out?

hi
fold the seats down. then look for 3 clips along the edge stick a screw drive behind and pull them out. then just pull the panel off. there is to clips hidden on the back but they just pop out. ill try and get a pic of mine tomorrow

I wouldn't recommend cutting the metalwork there, as it is structural. Not all cordobas have the welded in rear strut brace so the shelf is pretty important.

mines got the brace in so my backend isnt going to bend in half hehe

Hi I have a cordoba 2006 and I have completely changed my sound setup. The size of the stock speaker is 5-1/4" so you would need 5-1/4" ones. May I recommend you the JBL GTO507C, that's what I have. There's enough space to put the component. You will need to drill out the stock speaker and install a kit. New speakers doesn't always fit directly in the holes from stock speakers. You will need to modify it a bit. After that you need to put the new speaker on the kit. That's what I did. It's not that difficult.

May I also recommend you to use JBL amps also Kicker subs are the best imo. Let me know if you need more information

ah ok, either way, just remove the door panel, and see the size for yourself. Or just let a professional do it. I didn't knew anything about sound neither, but I learned

I still wouldn't recommend hacking that much metal out of the car. The rear speakers aren't important anyway if you put something good up front.

hi all and yea i am with icecavern might not mean much but cuttin into the metal gives you an unroadworthy status or it did in my last ride a 1990 holden vn calais did it any way, although i do want a good sound system in my cordoba, wher should i start? cheers

Hi all

In the end... I opted for

Alpine HU
3 Alpine amps.. 2 2channel 1 monoblock for Sub
Vibe Evolution 12" Sub
Vibe Speakers for the front doors and parcel shelf. But used the stock grills that are on the car.
Vibe 1.5 Farad power cap

Sounds really good
