Hi people,

Just had my 60K service and Cambelt change, great service etc from Camberley Seat. did need a new hydrolic tensioner tho

Now my MOT is due so i asked them to give it a once over... please bear with me as i have a few questions over the best routes to take. Any help or suggestions will be MUCH appreciated. Its a 210 LCR.

1) need new front pads and discs (discs are heavily lipped apparently) They quoted me £460 all in! i was thinking about getting a pair of DS2500 pads for £100ish but what are good 'not too expensive' discs to go for? (under 100 each) then i can get the lot fitted at stealers for £60.

2) need new front wipers, i'm sure i read somewhere that you can get aeros that clip straight onto the standard arms, am i right? and if so does anyone know where i can get them from and a rough price?

3) Rear silencer mounting bracket has broken - £60 to be re-welded. Now i'm sure that when i last had it serviced they told me that this wasnt really much of a problem. If i get it MOTed by someone local will it slip through un-noticed? or is it definatly worth gettin done?

4) Rear indicators emiting white light. is this just the stealers being OTT or should i replace them?

When i get it MOTed its going to a local garage so hopefully my HIDs will get through ok too.

Thanks in advance for any help you can all give. Great forum here and managed to find all info i've needed so far in my LCR ownership ;)

1) Get in touch with Badger5 (ibizacupra on the forum) and he will get you the most up to date price for the DS2500 pads and EBC discs. As for fitting price the stealers may not put the pads on as they dont have the wear sensor. Fitting should take less than an hour so ~£40 is the norm. You may need a brake fluid change on top which is roughtly £35.

2) Valeo Aero Wipers from wiperblades.co.uk work well and i've got them on my car. Just order the ones it recommends from the 'Flat Blade Upgrade Kits', order both sides (21" & 18") and should come to around £23. Easily fitted, just take off the old ones and pop the new ones on.

3) You can go to an independant exhaust specialist or franchise place and they will re-weld it (if they can) for around £5. It will be picked up on an MOT.

4) Not to sure on this, ask a MOT technician very nicely if that is ok or not.

1. If the discs are severely worn (lipped) it will fail, but it will be in the testers own opinion so it could pass at one garage and fail at another.

2. Aero wipers are cheap, check ebay out.

3. The silencer bracket will need to be welded for a pass at MOT.

4. If the indicators are emitting more white than orange this would fail at test.
