pedal box now repaired

Alright, just back from the garage where i take my car to, and got them to do the pedal box on my car.

They said they could have taken the whole dash out, box out and put a new one in but the one i have is still fine apart from the clutch bracket.

What they've done is remove the old bracket and repaced it with a new one and welded it for strength.

Total sum = £55.00

Just a bit of advice for anyone, try and make sure u definately need a new box before commiting to getting one replaced.

Maybe im just lucky!

Mine is bolted and had a few extra welds on it.

Still fine after 6+ plus. I have a spare ready to go in incase the one in the car fails. I will change it myself to save on labour costs.

I have a squeak, its just where the cable is rubbing coming through the bulkhead into the car as the hole in the bracket isnt exactly lined up, its off a tiny bit.

Changing the cable made a HUGE amount of difference!!

wild the amount of people who have had them replaced on here and on the mk3 section..

VW repair them for free on the mk4/5 polo because they know its a design fault.

I know, I saw that on Edition 38, that VeeDub replacve them for free. I e-mailed SEAT and they won't, which is a bit ridiculous.

Mine hasn't gone yet. It's been makiing some not very encouraging noises of late too.

I knew it was a common problem, but i didnt know that vw repair them for free.

We should try and get a list of all the mk2 and mk3 owners that have had to have their pedal box repaired or replaced then sent it or email it to Seat. Casually dropping in the fact that vw KNOW its a design fault and repair them for free.

Its worth a try.
