Basically 'poo poo'ing it's ability to trounce an M3...where I stepped in and mentioned my old M3.

"That Octy would easily trounce an M3. My old tuned 1.8T Ibiza Cupra R used to dispatch E46 M3s with no probs and that was only 250bhp/280lb/ft."

I basically got shot down in flames lol.

So ended up writing this...

I have to admit I find that hard to believe. (About the Cupra, not the Skoda)

My old Calibra was 260Bhp and 290 lbft in a very aerodynamic shell.
There is no way in the world it would 'dispatch my M3 with no probs'. And an E46 M3 is quicker than my E36 M3 Evo.

The Calibra may be quicker during low-mid range acceleration because of the torque, but if both were going through the gears the M3 would definitely win.'
