Hey all,

I've got an '03 Ibiza TDI Sport. My fuel gauge has started to go on strike every now and then.

I've done a search and found that it's a wire in the footwell that is probably to blame. Has anyone got a wiring diagram or an idea which footwell it's in as replacing a wire or even soldering trhe old one is not something i want to pay the stealer to do.

Cheers

Gruff.

I've got the same problem on my '02 Ibiza TDI Sport, since September!

But in my case, sometimes when I start the car, all the gauges don’t work (except the speed and revs), but they wake up after some time or after turning the key again!

And often when the fuel gauge goes on strike, it takes the outside temperature meter with it!

The dealer said it was the sender unit in the tank and I replaced that but the problem didn't go away!

After that they said that probably the whole instrument table that has gone and that I have to change the whole thing!:(

Edit: here are the two previous threads about this problem:

this is a known fault, my brother had it on his 02 130 sport and ended up with a very hefty bill for a new instrument cluster that needs programing by a dealer

loads of money mate, we are talkin' a monkey or more

Don't know this expression - meaning probably 1000£?

I was told around 600£ from the dealer...

Anyway, obviously I won't be fixing that soon...:(

B*gger,

Was hoping it was a dodgy earth or sommat. I'm sure i could do the work myself and just get the dealer to program it.
