hi guys have any of you had problems with the rear wash not working??? at first i thought it was the cowling from the fabia wiper stopping the water from hitting the windscreen. but on further inspection it seems like the water isnt coming out of the jet its coming from between the nut and jet housing???? can this be tightened up at all????

Remove the boot trim and check for leaks, get someone to spray while your outside. Can you hear the motor trying to push the water?.

Sound like the jet is broken or there is a leak somewhere. You might have to remove the lot so see. I wouldn't have thought the whole jet is that expensive. Someone else might be able to give you an idea who's replaced it.

It'll be the brass pipe which carries the water to the to the jet. It is known to corrode.

You can get a repair kit from vagparts https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.oneandoneshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=154761302f0f7ed/shopdata/0015_VW/0030_Golf+MK4/0015_Exterior/0015_Rear+wiper+repair+kit/product_details.shopscript?article=0010_MK4%2BGolf%2BRear%2Bwiper%2Bmotor%2Brepair%2Bkit%2B=288L0wiperkit=29

Not done mine yet but got the kit. The pic is from the vagparts website.

From the symptoms you have described it is def that. The kit is only for Valeo motors not Bosch but if you look here you can read a guide someone posted up and they managed to use the pipe on their Bosch motor.

If you pull the trim off you can see which motor you have. If it is Bosch you could always try a model shop or similar to see if you could just get the pipe.

Have you tried taking the boot trim off ?

I was going to take mine off to change the back lights, put a big hole in the trim & snapped a load of clips..........I left it on & worked around it lol

Took mine off yeah but borrowed a trim removal set to get it off. I had to work my way round and feel for the clips and gently ease the trim away.

I've had the same problem in the past, and ended up putting a small jubilee clip on the conection fomr hose to motor.

However, it's stopped working again, and, the screen wash is dripping off the rear, passenger side mud flap. Anybody any ideas?

All you've done is make one connection very secure and probably was the easiest to get to anyway, at a guess it's popped open further down the line as the motor side is now strong. I think there is a few junction places. Good luck in tracing it behind the panels :)

I've found it on another thread. There's another connector on the left hand side of the boot. behind the panel with the light. I've put another jubille clip on there and jobs a good un. :)
