its nothing to do with MOT, dont worry
mines been noisy for months, and ive been meaning to do this, car went for MOT on sat just gone and its not mentionned at all.

as m0rk said the car is warm when they do the tests so it never has any effect.

I will do this come summer/weather getting better

meant to ask: rather than go through the fixing the SAI setup, or bypassing it (blanking plates etc.) can you simply disconnect it in the same way you can disconnect the MAF for example? or does this come with other issues? just trying to save myself some work.

I would have thought you could just unplug it, if you remove it, it leaves an opening into the system and i think it would suck air in to it, so i plugged it up.

shouldnt see why not just means it wont work might throw a code up but not sure

it's throwing up a code as it stands just now anyway. was just concerned it might mess with other parts or have other side effects: low mpg etc?

all that's left now is to try and find an elctrical connection to the pump and have a go: any ideas what/where i should be looking?

Jack the car up, under the front left hand side you will see the pump connection is at the small end it is easy to see, i have had mine off two days now and nothing bad happening.

Well i have done it, removed the air pump:thumbup:, not as straight forward as the guide would suggest, getting the top hex bolt off the brackett was a bitch, i have made my own blank and i will order the proper one from the states and fit that when it arrives, i started it from cold and no lights came on, went for a drive and still nothing so it looks ok, mot in two weeks so we will see if it affects the emissions or not, fingers crossed that i dont have to put it back on.

Hi Phill mines playing up excatly the same as yours.....did you ever order that blanking plate from the states or was the one you made ok?

Any problems since removing it?

One other question........does it have to be removed or can it just be unplugged?

Cheers.
