law for 5w sidelights ??

have an idea for upgrading sidelight bulbs but b4 i go ahead and convert

what is the law regarding to sticking to 5w sidelight bulbs is there any im in the dark with this one pardon the pun

need someone with a definitive answer thanks

right i better get crackin ,and start the conversion to 10w bulbs, this will eliminate the yellow sidelight effect hope this works, will post some fotos after a while make sure everything ok

just order some nice new headlamp bulbs from powerbulbs.co.uk and get some philips blue vision side light bulbs free!! they are great i have some. they are not blue like they sound they have a special gas in that is blue when cold but burns bright white.

I think your definition of white clashes with my definition of yellow :lol:
The only time they are blue is when they are off.
LED's are the closest match to White you will get.

i think you need to read the whole coversation before trying to be smart davey. nobody mentioned LED's?? the thread was about bulb colour and wattage. aftermarket LED bulbs are not approved for road use. And because headlamp bulbs weather filament or HID's are burning a gas, LED's would look different. the blue vision are better matched to the colour of the majority of high performance lights on the market so therefore i maintain my initial point. plus they are cheaper and will not effect bulb monitoring systems.

i have run with 12w and 21w halogen sidelights in the past and both have passed mot

back on 12w now as they match better with the outer headlamps - 21w is too much

Still YELLOW mate, regardless of the blue glass, and my point about the LEDs had nothing to do with legallitys, but simply that they are a better white light if that was what you were after.
