The car hasnt been used much over Xmas, so havent had much chance to look at the problems we've been having.

But used it today and on the way home unplugged the air-mass meter - what a difference!

Now looking at sourcing a genuine air-mass meter at the best price. Do I just go direct to main dealer, or do you have any other suggestions?
We do have a mate who works in Sinclair Audi, so im going to phone them to see if it will be the same part as the TT, in which case they could supply us. Otherwise im going to have to track down the parts-dept of the most local Seat dealer as I dont think its located in the Seat garage.
We want to make sure we are buying a 100% geniune part so want to be sure.

Good idea? It'll be quicker for me to give them a ring tomorrow and ask myself, then I can get a price too. If its the right one i'll drop him a line and ask him to pick one up for me. Thanks!

Got mine from German, Swedish and French - was a while ago now but fairly sure it was an original part.

Only thing is you have to take your old part back (they stick about £20 on top, then refund you when you go back) so not sure how that would work for an internet order, but if you have one local give it a try.

Might be worth checking Euro car parts too.

Yes we have a GSF very local, so i'll give them a call in the morning and I can ask if they are defo genuine parts. We've had plenty of parts off them in the past for VW & Audi, so fingers crossed they can help and it should be cheaper.

Any ideas roughly how much one of these should cost me (in general)?

You'd need to double check your specific engine code etc etc but GSF are from £32 to £55 ish.

Euro car parts are the same, the higher price is for a 'bosche' so don't know if that is orig or not as they do manufacture a lot of the VAG stuff.

Thats no prob, they found my car with the details off my log-book when I called them about coil packs (then they got it wrong and quoted me on something they couldnt supply lol, daft sod got the part number back to front DUH).

Hope I can get a genuine one for around that price cos I should be able to afford to get that done very soon. The car isnt awful to drive, but it just does that thing now and again and it annoys the hell out of me. Fuel consumption isnt too good at the mo, so it'd be nice to see it increased a little if the MAF is causing all the probs!

Thanks again, will let you know how I get on tomorrow.

Get an OE one as they'll do a MAF exchange and you get some money back.

Im gonna sound really thick, but whats 'OE'?
Probably completely obvious, but ive been awake since early with screaming baby lol. And where do you get them from?

Got a price from both Audi & SEAT - about £75 inc VAT and giving my old part back to them.

Audi have plenty in stock but id have to give them the part number off mine first to be sure its the right one cos there are 6 it could be, otherwise i'll have to order one with SEAT - however the guy in SEAT sounded bit of a **** so id rather get it from Audi, nice customer service and all that!

Hopfully I can get the cash together soon and return my car to its full potential, fingers crossed all the problems will then be solved.

Managed to get a MAF Sensor this afternoon from the Audi dealer (£78 inc VAT after giving in our old part). I havent driven it since, but hubby says there's a HUGE difference, so it seems to have done the trick. Im off now for a little drive in it to see for myself.

Thanks for all your advice guys!

WOW its like a new car!! I am chuffed to bits, now I know my car's full potential and didnt even get to plant it because of all the slow idiots travelling home on the by-passes. So glad we got to the bottom of it, fingers crossed now for many mile's of trouble free motoring (touches wood lol). I love my Cupra!!!!
