Bringing up a previous thread here...

Washed my car with the jet wash yesterday, just the wheels & underside as it was rather dirty, but a few mile later and there's a worrying noise coming from the front drivers side...maybe the wheel or just in front of the steering wheel?

Driving along, while braking i had a heavy vibrating through the brake pedal along with the noise, then i could feel it slightly through the accelerator pedal. ABS light come on and stayed on.

Noise sounds like the ABS being applied, i'm sure it can only be heard from inside the car?

Straight away i was thinking ABS sensor, maybe needs a clean or is faulty?

Today cleaned both front sensors, couldn't really see anything visably wrong with either.

ABS still works which i didnt think it would?

Later today ABS and TRACTION light stayed on for a short while but then went off.

It seems to happen only when turning left, and it constantly made the noise when i was driving slowly in 1st gear while not breaking.

I have no access to Vag-Com.

Are the ABS sensors the same on both sides?

Any suggestions are appreciated...Thanks!

ABS sensors are on all four wheels.

best thing to do is get some rag and run it between the sensor & the abs ring on the front & rears (if you can access it)

Thanks Mark.

I'm thinking it can either be:

1) a faulty sensor that needs replacing,

2) the ABS module itself?

The noise is coming from the either the front drivers side wheel or just in front of the steering wheel in the engine bay...from what i've read on here, thats where the ABS module is?

I'll try cleaning all sensors tomorrow night.

Had the abs an tc lights on mine beofre and it was the abs wire had come off its bracket on the suspension strut and rubbed on the driveshaft wearing away the wire. Had this on both sides of mine maybe worth checking them aswel. Easily fixed to just replace the wire

You'll prefer it to be the sensor...

The noise will come from the master cylinder (which is just inside the engine bay - but behind the steering whee) - it'll be pushed back & forth making the noise.

I'd clean it, see if it comes back (check the wire connections are good) and if you can get it vag-com 'd at all then it'll show any faults that might be there

I checked this today Myki...both were clipped in on the front.

But i only checked the front sensors as i was convinced that was the problem; maybe worth checking the rear sensors/wires as well?

Thanks though.

Update:

Couldnt see which sensor was faulty, or even if it was a sensor, but based on feedback/threads on SCN i decided it was worth replacing both front sensors as there cheap enough.

Fitted them both tonight, problem solved!

FYI: i got the sensors from GSF, £14 each plus VAT, come to £34.

And GSF stocked them, where as SEAT didn't have them in stock, and they're considerably more expensive.
