Hey guys,
Does anyone know where I can find a 12V switched live in the dashboard area of a mk2 leon? It's a real pain that these are no longer in the back of the stereo!!

Thanks,
Jamie

The stereo is only on when ignition is live isn't it?
12v cigerette socket might be, but not sure.

Yeah it is but it uses CAN-BUS signals or something like that to know when the ignition is on. I had thought of the 12V lighter socket but getting to it seems a bit difficult.

Ok, I don't really know what can-bus is.
I would have though the centre console would be easy enough to take out?
I'll have a look in a minute.

CAN bus

is basically a network of small computers around the car, means there doesn't have to be different wires for everything

just one cable to a computer then the computer has access to everything in that section

i hope that makes sense

Sorry Irfan, bit of bad typing there.

Think I might run a wire from the fuse panel on the drivers side of the car because I don't like the look of trying to get access to the cigarette lighter!

Thanks for all the help.
