Just had a search and couldn't find anything definite.

Car just failed it's MOT on the handbrake efficiency. Was told that the offside rear caliper lever was moving but the read out on the test machine was 0..

Arse! Just what I need after being made redundent this week!

Anyway, they think it's a knackered caliper but until I get get a look at it I was doing a bit of research into replacement calipers.

I've read that the Ibiza Gti 2.0 16v uses the same rear calipers as Corrado 16v and the Golf MK2/3 Gti. However there seem to be a few different types available for each type, mainly earlier and later.

Can anyone confirm which ones are needed?

Cheers

Sean

iirc the mk3 gti differed depending on 8 or 16v 8v had the same as ibiza 16v,where as the 16v mk3 golf had the alloy ones.
this is just from memory of looking round scrappies for a some.

this is the mk3 golf one and needs adapting to fit(again from memory

Mk2, Mk3, M4 Golfs all fit on the pervious model ie... ive got some mk4 callipers to go on my mk2 golf :)

although the mk4 has a different connector, its a banjo type thing. but the adapter flexi hoses are easy to get hold of, £27 braided .

the mk3's changed 95/96 where the mechanisum went from internal to external...

good news... you have a fair few options including reconing yours.. and of course get checked ebay i picked up my mk4 ones for £40 which is cheap :)
