I've done a search on this but cant really find the answer to the problem.
Basically I went to get in the car this morning, Only to find the drivers door didn't unlock when i pressed the key fob :( All the other doors unlock fine, its just the drivers door. Strangley it locks ok but wont unlock :shrug:I hope this isn't the start of an unlucky year!

I'm assuming that the central locking motor has gone but i thought it would be worth asking you Knowledgeable peeps first before shelling out for a new one ;)

Having to use the key to open the door is a bit like losing the remote for the tv and having to get up and manually change channel :-o Help!

mine does the same. has for a while.

it's really annoying.

if you use the key to open the door, it doesn't disable the alarm either which wakes the neighbours up in the morning, when i forget :)

I think i'm gunna attempt to strip the door down at the weekend and get to the lock mechanism. Reading a few posts on here, it sounds like a real PITA :(
I think the window has to come out
If i do it KEZ i'll take some photos and try and put together a "how to" guide. It should help you mate when you come to do yours :)

Mine's been the same for ages. Occassionally it opens with the remote but 99% of the time it doesn't. And now the key is getting really stiff to turn, presumably because I am having to use the lock all of the time.

I haven't had time to try myself but I think I read somewhere that sometimes disconnecting the battery resets the convenience module or whatever it's called and may start it working again, but more likely is that the lock/solenoid needs replacing (which as you say, sounds a bit of a PITA).

I'll try the battery disconnect this lunch time mate. It's always worth trying the easy things first
I did notice when i had my 80000 service that they had smoothered all the lock mechs in grease. that was over a year ago now and i'm wondering if i could free it up with some lubrication.
I'll keep you posted :)
