red flashing sensor on the dash above water temp needle?

if so then it sounds like the coolant level sensor. is the needle sitting at 90? if it is and everything seems fine then defo the coolant level sensor.

If the coolant levels are down then top up and go for a run preferably from cold and see if it still comes on. If it does and the the car is under warranty then have the dealer fit a new coolant bottle - problem solved ... for a while anyway until the part fails again.

if out of warranty then open the coolant bottle lid and you'll see two silver long pins that stick into the coolant. scrape these where they meet the coolant with a screwdriver to get off any deposits and try again. worked for me. saves you about £15-30 for a new bottle/sensor.

they are prone to fail. on my 3rd in two years.

I've been having the same problem. Settles on 90, but if I start it from warm, it doesn't come on. Thought it was to do with oil, cheers for clearing that up guys.

Its a common problem, that was put down to a temp sensor on early models giving the beep sound when engine drops below a certain temp. nothing to worry about.

Mine did this recently and it was more common on very cold days. But my oil was low, so it got topped up anyway. Better safe than sorry.

I had the same problem. Seat dealer couldnt sort it - took it down to Parkside Skoda in Bolton, they replaced the coolant expansion tank - problem solved.

Did they say what the reason was?
I need to check Vagcom really for faults, but its that wet lately i don't like taking the lappy to the car.

They said the expansion tank had become contaminated. I'll have a look at the bill from the garage when I get home from in the morning.

I've started to take my Seat to this Skoda garage - was sick of being fobbed off by Seat dealers.

Cheers mate.
Would be keen to know all the details you can provide so i have something to tell them if mine goes back in. Out of interest, did this involve draining the oil? Could be a blessing in disguise if it did :D

Mine did this again today. TWICE.
Only changed the oil a couple of days ago, and its halfway up the mark on the dipstick.
Will have to book it in to get it sorted now. First trip back to the dealers in 2 yrs :(
