Hello

After an on going vibration issue i have had one of my dads friends that is a mechanic for VW take my car home for the night to see if he could tell my what the problem could be. I ve had it code read by himself and my dad on two different types of machines and neither bring up any codes.

I had a phone call this morning telling me that he thinks it is my flywheel braking up. What exactly that means i dont know, but he said he see's it happen alot on audi, passats & golfs. He told me i would be looking at a bill of approx £600 :( for a new flywheel and clutch. I just want to know if this has happened to anyone else. The car is running standard 156bhp and has done 74,000 miles.

Not exactly the amount i wanted to spend just before xmas. Wanted to get p-torque remap but thats now gone out the window

:santa: Merry Xmas Everyone! :santa:

Been reading few posts on her and there is nothing to answer my question but seems to be alot of talk of using a VR6 clutch with a G60 flywheel or a SPEC stage 3 with a sachs race clutch.

VAG Dual mass flywheels are renowned for breaking up, seizing chuxking internals into bellhousing etc. Mainly happens on the diesel engines, see a fair few at work.

Good way to check, is the vibration/rattle there when clutch is not depressed, if yes try pressing clutch pedal, does the vibration/rattlling go or even get better (as in less rattly/vibrating), if it does its definetly your flywheel.

Hope it helps. If your gonna get it done then try GSF as they're alot cheaper for flywheels than dealers. Or as mentioned upgrade it.
