After washing and waxing my car today, I grabbed a few pics of my new rims, they are 8 x 18" Borbet LS in black with a machine-cut face, ET35 offset with Cooper Zeon 2XS 225/40ZR18 XL tyres.

They look bigger than 18" due to the black insets and long spokes!

Some of my engine bay as it currently stands:

Thanks for looking! :D

Very nice, Looks awesome, - I've heard alot about your car through John, Would love to see it in the metal! - Have you ever thought of putting one of those canopy things over your drive? Protect the car a little more? If you have a garage excuse me! ;)

I'm not keen on the wheels to be honest sorry, much prefered the others.

But i'm so glad you changed the red rocker!

Didnt you have a lightweight battery before?

Wheels look great on the first pic, but not so good on the 2nd

Never really like machin cut wheels - they seem chavy to me. But of course, they look good on yours.

Same for the engine bay, I'm not really into "bling and blue (samcos)" but yours always looks good - probably because it's tidy and really well detailed.

What charge pipe did you go for in the end - is that a customer one?

Yea Rob, those wheels do look like 19"s, as you say due to the long/thin spokes and also the dark inner lip.

I was going to ask about the battery as well, i tought you had a light-weight one as well - but where is the small fuse-box that usually sits above it ??

Overall car is looking great as usual :)

What you thinking about for next year - bigger turbo ???

All my intercooler pipework is all custom done by myself, made up of silicone hoses (the turbo hose is nomex hence black) and alloy pipes. Lightweight battery kept going flat all the time, no use really.

Thanks for all the comments on the wheels, my reason for changing was that I'd had MO's for years and they are becoming popular on the Leon, so it was time to change and be unique once again! I also wanted black but not 100% black and I'd been looking at the Borbet's for a while. Personally I love them, still quite an aggressive look but also stylish, lightweight and strong. When you see the the whole car and the other black details the wheels make sense and fit in well with the overall look.

I will most likely have white MO's and track tyres for trackdays in '08. (got the tyres already!)

Braille B2015 - was fine when it worked but went flat after 4 or 5 days. My car often sits for a while and it soon became a real PITA to have to charge the battery any time I wanted to use the car.

Yeah, theyre not much good if you don't use them every day. The Extreme is better than the 2015 for keeping charge.

To be honest mate, these are a bit of a waste of money if your going to keep it under the bonnet. If you want a battery half the size and weight of the stock one, then go to your local motor factors and ask for a type 053 battery - 340cca. They will take about £30 off your hands and you'll be feeling lighter:D ;)
