Hi all this seems to be the best place to ask :D

my car is going BT and jsust waiting to get it, now the bloke says he is gatting boost spike problems with it and did tell me but wondering what causes this and how you can sort it so it doesnt happen??

Apparently it hits max then drops then starts boosting again, so what can be done?

Extra N75, run it straight from waistgate, this is to help me gat my head around it really just so i understand

cheers

If you look at the following graph from my car:

The purple line is the boost. It's only reading to the max the mAP sensor will read. In reality, it spikes far higher for a few hundred rpm beyond about 4100.

If you look at the yellow line, that's the N75 opening the wastegate (as instructed by the mapped ecu) to control the boost.

Run an inline bleed valve or proper boost controller.

Good luck with the conversion tho, not the place i would have gone...

ask Des which controller he uses, im sure its Blitz or similar and as far as im aware that has cured spiking problem.

Mine was due to having it mapped for maximum fuel miles and low boost when i went on holiday

No, if it needs a boost controller, because he can't control it on N75 - it *may* run limp mode through deviation

it's laughable - but have a read http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4025&highlight=impossible+performance+beetle

I remember the site well.

i see that and realise everyones probs but i wont make that judgement everytime i've asked him he's been tops and this spike is prob minor to but seems a common prob that others have incurred so will see

just after ideas guys not witch hunting??

Hi Rob

I run a blitz boost controller, basically so I can turn down the boost in silly weather. You can also run over boost, gain and red lines with 4 pre sets. In hot weather or on track you can regulate boost levels to cope. I was getting boost spikes but the controller sorted that, now it's smooth as.....

As for Mike at IP. Everyone makes mistakes but the reason I go there is down to the fact that he is a nice bloke and is always willing to help even when he is busy. Mike has developed a way of running 2 N75's to cope with boost spikes which worked very very well for me, I just wanted more control.

My advice would be to let the man do the job, go get your car at the end of it and then discuss the conversion. My old moto is never show an Architect, a woman or chav an unfinished job. ;)
