Came out of work tonight to find my car in this state. It was clean and jetwashed yesterday, so this happened in 8 hours! :censored: needless to say its been jetwashed on the way home tonight too so she's now clean again.

Car parks with birds in, never a good mix.

Wouldnt use a jet wash though.

Being a bit of an expert on Bird Doo Doo. It looks to have a redy blue tint to it. I bet you have some trees or bushes close by with lots of berries on.
You definitely did the right thing washing it off, it will have a mixture of acetic and hydrochloric acid in it. Not so harmfull when its dry but when it gets damp it will certainly attack the clearcoat laquer on top of mettalic finishes.

Insurance companies are often a bit touchy about health and safety, Suggest the health hazards of you accidently ingesting it and see what they say, in my experience though to get anything out of an insurance company you often have to eat ****.

Brisaleon,

What wheels do you have on your Stylance? They're not the normal 7 spoke optional 17" ones are they, look more like the 5 spoke Sport ones?

I have just ordered a new Stylance with the 17" wheels, was wondering how it looks with the 7 spoke ones, but also any 17's with the Stylance bumpers, don't think I've ever seen one. Any chance of a couple of bigger pics though please?

Cheers

brisaleon,
As I mentioned on your previous thread "Bird poop" on 11/12/07, I would recommend that you get the car properly detailed and put a good dollop of carnauba wax on the paintwork to give it some protection.
I mentioned Polished Bliss ( from whom I have purchased various excellent items and learned a lot).

Try http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/guides.html

for the detailing guides and products if you fancy the DIY route.

If I were in your situation I would get a professional detailer in as soon as possible because without any protection you are heading for a complete respray sometime in the future. See if friends and family will chip in for a Christmas present. I have just noticed that DPN do gift vouchers!
Also try and get your employer to contribute towards the cost. It is not your fault that your parking place is underneath this particular tree.
I have no idea whether you have a genuine detailer (as opposed to a standard car washer/valeter) nearby but there is DPN Professional Car Valeting in Harrogate who are fully mobile and have their own cover, water, electricity etc. I have not used them myself but from the testimonials and magazine photos they sound okay.
Has anybody on SCN heard good (or bad) reports on DPN?

Their website is: http://www.professional-car-valeting.co.uk/

Beachboy, i'm actually quite obsessive about having a clean car. It is washed every week and waxed every month so there is plenty of protection on the car. I've only had it since March and its already had 6 coats of carnuba wax on so its well protected.
Its also had another coat on this week. I wasn't at work one day this week so its since had another coat. If you saw the size and contents of my car cleaning box you'd understand where i'm coming from. Alloys are cleaned with sponge, brush and toothbrush for hard to reach places.
I've got everything from tyre dressing to clay to interior products but your link and advice is much appreciated, i gave me a few tips to use.

Rob,

Pics attached. Hope they are of some use to you. I actually prefer these wheels to the standard ones. They suit the car more and look alot nicer in my opinion. The tyres are lower profile too so the handling is great.
Let me know what you think. What colour have you gone for??

brisaleon,
I had no idea that you were already a detailing/carnauba wax fanatic. I was obviously preaching to the converted!
I am glad that you found the Polished Bliss tips/guides useful. I certainly did.

That looks really smart. They aren't the normal optional Stylance ones though are they, the ones in the brochure are seven spoke, where did you get them?

If that's what they put on it mine though I would be happy, the 5 spokes look really nice.

I've ordered it in my lifelong dream colour - yellow, with Bluetooth, the alloys, leather and DSG. :)

No, they were part of the optional sport pack. The car had them on when I went to look at it. It had the wheels from the sport pack but didn't have the sports suspension, much too harsh a ride.

I think they suit the Leon really well, they blend in with the lines of the car.

Hope you like your new one, they really are good to drive.

That's pretty bad, lol. I'd be so annoyed if I came back to my car and it looked like that! I thought black cars only attracted bird ****, anyway, lol.
