Hi,

I did post a while back, about some problems with mK Leon MK2.

It had done 1500 Miles and had it since 24th September 2007, I repoerted this is Ocotber to seat Hidsons, No one phoned me back, Twice.!! I phoned again in Novmeber and finally got it booked in for the following.

1.) Front & Rear Bumper Different Colour from bodywork & very cloudy (Met Silver) - Hidson Seat told me , that plastic bumper's will always be a different colour. (Now i know they should not be like this as I run a Insurance Approved Body Reapir Centre)

2.) Rattle Behind dash & Roof Lining.( Went in, took 3 days, and they said the radio was 1 rattle and the other was th sound pad in the roof, and nothing they can do with it)

3.) My Kep does not fit together very well. Its been miss made at factory. (Seat have ordered a New Key)

4.) Mirror Glass was scratched when i picked it up (They have ordered a new one and they will do this when they program new key)

5.) All Brake disc rusting very bad on the hub part of disc. (Seat told me, this is normal, they all do it). Greta, I have 18" upgrade Alloys, and all you see is Rust on a Brand New car. They said it may have sat around a bit before i had it.

Seat had my car for 3 days, done nothing to it, not even a wash off.

What shall i do..... I think im going to phone Seat Warranty Direct. Just wanted to see what other problems people had, and what they think of this.

It's a well known problem throughout the car industry that plastic bumpers don't always match the metalwork. One explaination is that they're painted separately from body and so they can't do a colour match, whereas if you do it in a bodyshop afterwards, you have something to compare it to.

As to your other problems, if you're not happy then either try another dealer or try Seat Customer Care.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my front bumper on my lunar grey leon fr, the o/s front side of the was very patchy when i went to collect it from stealers. asked the question why it was not picked up on pdi and they could not give an answer:confused:.they arranged for it to be repainted under warrenty in their bodyshop. When collected from stealer paint respray was worse than original color,:ban: so back to body shop for another attempt this time slightly better but still not a decent match  so give up as a bad job and made do. since then had another leon fr luna grey and behold this one is the same:wtf: come to conclusion all luna grey leons must have crap paint match on bumpers. Hoping you have better luck than me.

I would suggest you have an independent vehicle check done by say the AA/RAC and with this report as youre defence then contact the selling garage (as youre sale contract is with them not Seat) and go from there, if you have legal cover on youre house insurance this may pay for any legal costs though its dificult to reject a car particularly as you have accepted repairs already, i would say they (the garage) should restore it to new condition at Seats expense

Brakes hubs often rust unfortunately. I think its to do with the type of metal.

My Celica had the problem as does my Cupra. Not spoken to SEAT about it yet, but Toyota wouldn't do anything about it on the Celica, even with the excellent warranty that Toyota give.

The thing is, alot of cars out there from new out the facotry, have matching front & rear bumper's. If we painted a car like this in our bodyshop, it would not be acceptable to send back to the customer.

I will talk to Seat Customer services tomorrow.

I had a problem with my bumpers on my last car, silver is the worst colour apparently. ventually VX agreed to cover it under warranty but I didn`t get it done as the garage told me he could not guarantee a better finish. I was also told that modern plastic is hard to match to metal, even when sprayed at the same time they dry different ..

See how bad mine was !!

I agree, if you just paint a bumper on its own.. but we blend most our jobs and it looks spot on, what ever car or colour. I'll see what Seat Customer service's say, if not i was thinking of getting the BTCC kit anyway, so i can pain that at work, then i know it will def match.

As for the rusty hubs, think i'll get some EBC Disc on the front & rear or something.
