The horn on my new Leon sounds a bit lightweight (peep peep)and probably not out of place on Noddy's car. Do they all sound like that or is something wrong with it.

I must admit mine was a bit of letdown when I tried to give someone a blasting for cutting me up on a roundabout.

Mind you, the electric windows came down fast enough for me to dispense some severe verbal abuse - maybe you could give that a go :D

They all sound like that!

I guess it has to do with the Spanish regulations, because all VW and Audi's come with a better horn.

I'd change the horn but it's hard to get to - you have to take off the right front wheel, and take out the wheel house black plastic lining just to get to the horn. It's located in there to protect it from water.

if it helps you can JUST get to it through the n/s foglamp trim hole , minus lamp of course , TOLEDO has a twin horn assy that sounds good BUT will cost near £100 to buy :(

trip to halfords for those twin red ones with the nice chromy grilles on , they are just right , and will be hidden anyway ;)

The horn is actually in front of the left front wheel arch. It is easy to get to if you remove the fog light trim.

The original horn has a special electrical connector so I had to carry out a mod to fit the Halfords horn (low tone) I bought. I basically used some heavyweight snippers to trim away at the cover to split the two connectors, I could then plug each of them into the halfords horn without having to solder/strip wires.

Don't forget to take the fuse out before you start!!

My new horn was only £11.99, deeper and alot louder.:D

I changed the horn on my 02 Leon for the very same reason, (it went meep meep :ill:) got a pair of Fiamm electric horns from Halfords for about £15.00, and just connected up the original wires to the horns and Hey Presto.

Now it goes.... Oi GET OUTTA MY WAY IDIOT :scary:

It involved undoing & moving the left wing inner, but no worries, for the end result it was worth 30 minutes.

Come to think of it I don't think I have used mine yet!! Not driven the LCR a great deal though. You have got me wondering now so I am going to give it a go later today and see if it is. Peep peep does not sound good, so may well have to change if thats the case.
