I have now used the Valeo and Bosch retro fit blades on my car as well as standard spoiler'd Bosch blades but have been rather under-whelmed with the performance of the Bosch retro fit blades. 5mths down the line and they need replacing  they are cleaned regularly and I use Rain-X on the screen but they are just smeary as hell like 18mth old blades.

So do I:

  • Go back to standard blades
  • Try another brand of retro fit aeros
  • Fit the golf aero conversion?

I had a megane hire car on hols with aero blades and they did such a good job of cleaning the screen and wiping the water which is why I am interested with the swap.

Liz's Furby has some cheapy Champion blades on that have do a much better than my 4 times as expensive Bosch blades [:@]

Opinions?

Personally if it was my money, i'd fit the vw upgrade fit aero blades at about £23-24 rather than go to the expensense of getting golf aero's at £75 then using el' cheapo blades when they need replacement..

There have been a few of us on here have fitted them, had mine on now about 4 months and am well pleased with them, they wipe much better than the stocko's and don't lift at speed on the motorway... :D:D

Those golf aero's do look good (stuarts car) but for the extra cost are they any better than the vw upgrade kit  at a third of the price...

Have look here post 41 -->http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=135795&page=3

At least it a bit more choice other than the normal replacements...

I have cut my passengers side blade down so as to not clash with frame
but my next plan is to see if i can get a longer drivers side and cut only the opposite side down that way it will reach the frame but not clash in the middle.

but as stu said I prefere the look of true aeros to the retros

Yeah I'm inclined to agree with Lee Cupra R, the Rain X is the problem.

My old Bosch retrofits lasted 3 years, but I thought they looked crap with the big "clip" so bought some new Bosch standard blades.

You can buy refills for aeros, they're available for around a tenner.

Well i've ordered a set of the VW conversion blades to pick up tonight/tomorrow.

Main reason was cost and as its xmas I can't justify the £65 of the full aero kit. Maybe next year....

For anyone that's interested I grabbed the blades on the way into work this morning. Cost me £20 from VW Chichester. Much improvement on the Bosch's. They do seem to look very similar and so i'm, wondering if they are actually made by Bosch

Are these wipers part #1J2 998 002 from a MK4 or MK5 golf?

The guys running the VW parts department at my local are god damn thick as they come!!!!!

Won't order me any cos 'if it's wrong, it's them that has to sort it out'
