worth checking the fine detail before you pay on the dotted line . I bought my Leon Cupra about a month ago and the wipers failed on Friday night. Took it to to Seat garage where they diagnosed a number of minor faults apart from an electrical problem which could prove difficult to trace . Just been told the ABS sensor comes in at £118 and new glow plug is £ 50 and none of the repairs will be covered by Auto protect . Ouch

Guy at Seat is sure the car has been chipped and suggested that you can get problems with warning lights with remapped cars . mechanic standing next to him didn't seem to agree . Anyone with any experience of problems of this kind after re mapping ? And is the re map reversible ?

Oh and whoever runs this site a big hand , good stuff

A remap can do several things - but if you look after the car & you have a reputable remap, then I wouldnt worry.

1st step is to see if the car has been remapped - then try find out which map it has.

A remap would not affect any of the problems you have mentioned above though - it can be removed (well, the remappers version of standard) - but I wouldn't reverse it, as it's so much fun with the remap in place :)

cheers chris , and no i won't be reversing the remap as the car responds so well as it is - borrowed my wife's focus for today and it's like a slug by comparison . I was thinking more of resale in case remapping puts people off.

When i bought it from a dealer there was no mention of chipping but as the guy at seat says, he may not have known himself if he was not accustomed to driving these beasts . haven't had so much fun in day to day driving for bloody years .

I would be interesting instead of companies telling us what is not covered actually tell us what is covered and in what situations.
That way we could make an informed descision on whether these things are worth buying or not
