Air fuel ratio on LCR

sureal

Guest
Have any of you guys with LCR's came across a problem with the air fuel ratio while on the rolling road ?, a couple of us had LCR's on the rollers and both were running slightly lean and the tester has seen this many times before, but only with LCR's?, this resulted in them only doing one run as they felt it was unsafe to do another.
The beefa boys all had no probs and got two runs so i dont think its their kit.
Logged MAF and runs right up to 180gs at 6k rpm with it looking ok through out the rev range, also this is on a standard car with the only mod being a forge 007p.
Any ideas?

i had this happen on my mapped LCR although i'm not very confident in the operators abilities. i'm thinking about going somewhere else in the new year.

to be honest i'm not too sure bill. it was just put on the print out as a comment. i know all about the dyno lottery but my LCR made 236bhp on powerstations rollers when it was standard but only made 219bhp with a map and other mods on marlins rollers! a few people that day were annoyed with the operators as they seemed to not have much of a clue. i haven't managed to get any logs done yet on vag-com and i need to get it done sooner rather than later by somebody that knows what they are looking at because all those number blocks mean nothing to me.

there was talk of of marlins doing static runs rather than power runs, i was told that a static run is easier to set up but puts resistance on the rollers. people said that they could see smoke coming from rash's tyres when his IHI ibiza went on there.

what afr did they class as lean, and what does the car itself read on block 30/31/32 etc?

Here is the print out showing AFR let me know what you think, I only have the ability to log one channel at a time as it is only shareware vagcom i have at the moment.

Tail sniffer? They always read leaner than actual afr.

Ditto what bill said, log those blocks. And i'd take the figure given at Powerstation as theyre decent rollers.

I've seen leaner afr.. its not on stoich at least.
usual 12.5 level is lean best power, and yours is 13 or so wavering..

compare your vagcom, you need only look at the lambda value which would be in the 0.8 levels for equivalent afr

I have been told mine has been running lean on a RR before, but logging on vag-com shows it not really deviating from around 0.8 - 0.82

If you use octane booster would that possibly give a leaner reading as it burns better?

funny you should say that bill, the last time i had my car plugged in a fault code reader it came up with an EGT fault saying something like maximum temperature exceeded. :-o

I had my LCR on the rollers at Dastek earlier in the year and I was also told my car was running lean and they declined to do any further runs - I was looking to get my car remapped and wanted to see if everything was ok prior to doing this - car seems fine to me on the road:blink:

you won't notice any difference till it pops, you would have to be driving hard though.

like bills quotes lean mixtures make egt's very hot especially if on track.hotter and hotter then det.

ecu dependant... some with egt sensor have fuel dump strategy on high egt's... push too hard on poor fuel too high ign and CF pull elevates EGT's.
runaway of sorts..

probably stupid dastek pipe up the exhaust measuring

Thinking back, they did shove a device up the exhaust and even tried readjusting it to try and give different readings:think: -Itake it this method is not the most reliable then? - what is it measuring anyway?
