Michelin Alpin PA2's

I'm going to get these fitted to my LCR tomorrow, perhaps its too late to ask this question
BUT....
Has anyone had any experience of these, according to www.mytyres.co.uk these are as good as winter tyres get, well would have to be for £175 each

Sounds like the dry handling shouldn't be that different to the Eagles,

Jesus - thats a hell of a lot of money, when the only major improvment over GSD3's in the handling in the Snow...

I can understand the reasons given your location, but do the gains outway the costs???

£700 for a set of rubber is too much for my wallet, unless I was driving a GT3RS or summit.

hi fella do you live near or know any1 with a costco card cos i can gauranty they'll get them and fit them cheaper than anywhere else. if you should find somewhere that'll fit and supply cheaper then take a printed quote and they might be able to better it.

For the £700 you paid i would spent £800 and got a set of toyo or F1`s for summer and a set of proper winter tyres.

Sorry your right Alpin 2 are proper winter tyres. What i ment was a set of summer and winter tyres. Alpin 2`s are bloody exspensive winter tyres and when they get down to 3mm tread not that great like all other winter tyres.

being in the trade, i'd presonally pay for the expensive winter tyres and summer 1's. cos in the life they give you would be on at least your 2nd set of cheaper tyres, but then that's my own experience each to their own.

Tyres is not something that I would risk mine or my families lives by buying cheaply
I'm a betting man in some things but not when it comes to this.
The reason I bought the Alpins was because for two years on here I've been asking guys about winter tyres and nobodys come up with any comment so I thought **** it and bought the best.
I'll keep you all informed how I get on with them.

I am surprised to hear you say that. I think the GS-D3s leave a lot to be desired in cool damp/wet conditions.

I had a 106 GTI before the LCR, it had Pirrelli Drago tyres which I was told were good in the wet, I found it very difficult to do anything exciting in the wet this them on. In the LCR the only limits I have in the wet is hard acceleration on corners and large amounts of staying water. But considering that these are 225's and the GTI's were 195's the difference is nothing short of amazing

Cold conditions, when the air temp drops to single figures. Having said that, they are summer tyres and single figure temps is below what they are designed to operate in. I expect the Michelin Alpin's to be better grip wise in the wet in those kinds of temps and conditions.

I was running GSD3s last winter, I switched to winter tyres in late December, the difference was very obvious - could pull away quickly with no wheelspin and braking distances were a lot shorter.

Wow .... when it gets even colder or starts to snow up in Scotland, I think the difference between the Alpins and the GSD3s will be very obvious.

I just bolted on my winter tyres over the weekend and the weather forecast predicts warmer temps mid-end of the week

I don't doubt that the Aplins will be better in the snow, infact they couldn't be worse
And for £175 each the better be **** hot in the snow
What winter tyres have you gone for?
