Creaking is driving me mad

Is there anywhere you can take the car for a drive, with somebody standing nearby to see if the noise is coming from the outside or inside?

Somewhere like an industrial or trading estate with a few speed bumps perhaps? Get somebody outside and see what they hear. If the creaking is coming from inside, I'd expect that they wouldn't be able to hear it. If it's coming from outside, it might point to suspension/ARB bushes or something similar.

A good idea... I had convinced myself it is the bushings but sometimes the creaking appears to be coming from the middle pillar (between the front and rear doors). I have had the trim off and could see nothing there.... maybe I am just being too fussy for a 7 yr old car??

I wouldn't say so. Cars should be expected to last longer than 7 years without sounding like they are on their last legs!

Cheers.... as I can't really afford to get a new one yet haha.

I will maybe prop it up on the jack and have a look underneath (not climb under tho obviously) see if there is anything obvious... failing that it's off the the local garage for their opinion.

That looks like a good idea (so long as it works).. cheers for the suggestion but my problem is more associated with the suspension or I think it is, so requires movement over a bump or rough road surface.

Finally found the majot causes to the long term creaking issue I have had.... the 2 issues were that the boot lid trim had been removed to replace the wiper motor and the metal fitment clips had not been correctly fitted, and the trim by the rear seats (on a 45 degree angle) is attached mainly by 2 metal clips which had slightly corroded so with some grease and careful refitting it now has given me a (virtually) creak free car.... happy days!!

Thankfully it's not going to be my car for much longer - Oh, the brake pedal squeaks a bit too....

Perhaps I need a whole new posting listing the problems with my car, it's reg and why to NOT buy it Lol

Perhaps I was a little premature ..... the whole creaking thing has come back to haunt me.... just as bad as it ever was (DAMN!!)... I think it just stops creaking when it's wet outside...
